I just noticed with dh's reduction in pay scale, it puts our mortgage at almost 40% of our income. That stinks. Dh is still looking for a better paying job while working his new one. It's still more than unemployment, although that pay cut does hurt.

Hi
Well I never posted here befor but I was doing my paperwork and started to count all the expenses we make. After I finished I was wondered that my calculations by head wore pretty much the same as when I wrote them all down.
So here mine come. At the end I will transfer the amount into Dollars as my calculation go in Euros. This is my calculation for March:
Healthcare 240,00
Insurances 100,00
Mortgage 340,00
Elect/gas/water 250,00
prop. tax 85,00
tv/phone, cellphones, intern 150,00
cartax 100,00
fuel 250,00
food/supplies 500,00
entertainment 100,00
Total amount in Euros 2115
Makes in US Dollars about 3.160,00( rate one Euro costs 1.47 Dollar)
Our income is about 5.200 Dollars a month. At the moment we are spending most of this on completly redoing our garden and house.

First time on this thread but here goes:
Mortgage: 1285 (includes principle, interest, property taxes for town and village, and school)
Car: 341 (will be paid off in September at this rate)
Elec/Gas: 370 (on a budget plan)
Cable/Inter/ph 163
Cells for 5 163 ( we still foot the bill for the children's cell phones, especially since two are in college)
Food/gas/etc. 1200 (divided by 3 - 400 each for food, gasoline, and miscellaneous/cash like daily expenses, clothes, presents, toiletries, minor repairs)
Card Debt: 500
savings: 760 (for prop taxes for second home/car and house, etc insur/water and sewage AND house repairs)
Total: 4782
Income: around 4782 (some income is from own business outside of salaried work so it can go high or disappear)
Any extra income goes to: 200 extra on mortgage, 200 to future car fund, all other extra to pay card debt. We also have 15 percent off top of husband's income going to 401K plus some extra for catch up. I fully fund an IRA each year. Also I tend to send my college students spending money every couple months when I make more than expected. We really need to get the debt paid off quickly to bring our budget back into a more manageable one, one that isn't so tight.

I feel happy with how I've cut mine down- here is January to March January budget Savings March budget
church $100 0 $100 mortgage and home
equity loan $1859 $100 $1759 heat and appliance coverage $193 $26
$167
elec $107 $0 $107
garbage $22 $0 $22
water/sewer
$45 $0 $45
phone $50 $5 $45
cell, 2 $20 $0 $20
gas
$400 $50 $350 Graham, misc. $ $50 $0 $50
credit cards $649
$149 $500 grocery and diapers $440 $165 $275 car and life insurance
$145 $22 $123
internet/cabl $61 $0 $61 med insurance and
copays $650 $550 $100
totals $4,791 $1067 $3,724
So,
things are better. The best thing for us was getting state health
insurance to help us out. We tested it the second day, went and got
three prescriptions for Graham at Walmart. What would have been $70
last month was $13! $9, $3, and $1! I canceled my life insurance,
the appliance coverage with the gas company, we have cut down on
driving, long distance, I used a balance transfer offer, and went from
6 credit cards to four, lowering the minimums by $150. I've been paying
down the home equity loan enough that the interest only payment dropped
from $500 to $400. While Graham had the severance pay I stocked the
pantry and found one free food source, a once a month Saturday pickup
in a neighboring town. I went a few times, now Graham and I both go to
get bread, produce, and a variety of other food products. I'm not
confident I can stay under $300 for food every month, but I think I can
for a few months. Our budget is still too high for our income, but with
the tax refund coming soon and Graham had a free lance job last month
proofreading, we are getting by.
