    Tax refund came in

We got our refund direct deposited yesterday. yippee. now we have to figure out how we're going to use it. we had a plan to pay off my orthodontist and student loan, but the car insurance premium and propane bill came in. i think we can still swing it. it would be such a load off my mind to get rid of my student loan.

anything to get us closer to debt free would be wonderful.

I have read that the refunds come in on Fridays so good for you that it was sooner! When did you file?

I hope you can gt the funds to stretch as far as you need them to.

i filed at the end of january. it seemed to take forever to get it but i guess it's from wanting to get things paid off. i hope we can pay off what we planned and still have some left over for our vacation in july.

i talked with my dh and he told me to write a check to my orthodontist. i have to get a final payoff from them. he's having a bad day at work and he said it was a good piece of news.

he's wary of paying off my student loan because we may not have enough money for our vacation and to pay off other bills. he can be quite a worrier when it comes to money. we'll have to discuss it over the weekend and do it on paper to see what we have.

This is simply a matter of deciding priorities.

Is taking a vacation more important than honoring prior contractual obligations?

If you pay off your student loan that monkey is off your back forever and you'll save money in the long term because you won't be paying further interest on it.

The goal should be zero debt. That makes life so much easier because you don't have to make those kinds of decisions. Just my opinion.

I would like to have the debt paid off too, but maybe you two could compromise--say set aside X-amount for an inexpensive getaway and use the rest towards the debt.  The vacation may not be essential, but if your husband worked at a job like my husband use to have, the only way for him to completely relax (& not be called by work) was to leave town.

For me, my goal is to be in agreement with my DH about everything in our marriage. If he feels that we need a vacation then I would do as he wishes . I would discuss how we could do it and not spend all our money. My DH needs a break sometimes. He has a high stress job and is on call 24/7 We have to leave town for him  to rest.  I want himk to be around for a long time not die of stress related illness. My goal is to debt free but debt free and conflict in a marriage isn't good either.  Babs
