Re: Rebate Checks Should Be in the Mail by Spring

With claiming herself as her own dependent, she still owes state taxes but is getting a small federal refund. If we had claimed her as a depedent with her filing her taxes on her own, I would have had to give her the amount we would have gotten back just for having her as a dependent to cover her federal and state taxes owed.

We were better off with her claiming herself.

That has happened to us as soon as they are out working.First time, I was very surprised to see what a difference it made in our taxes. Babs

It asked me if i will owe at least $1200 in Fed tax? What exactly does that mean? Owe as in taken out of paycheck or owe as in final tax liability? It said I'll get back $1800, but I don't believe it. I had 0 tax liability when all was said and done in my tax return this year.

Dear CinnamonHuskies Michelle, Since folks on Social Security are gettign their individual $300 payments so long as they send in a 1040 (or the simplified 1040 being issued expressly for non-taxpayers), I'm certain that everyone who files a 1040 is eligible for teh rebate checks, & it doesn't mean that you have to have paid $300 for an individual ($600 for a couple, etc) in taxes.  Correct me, anyone, if I am wrong.  Yours in Him, Deb

     Michelle,

Typically those with no tax liability have in essence overpaid and are given refunds to return that money to them. So they have not actually paid taxes when it's all said and done.

I am assuming the lingo for the rebates is the same as other tax situations but I could be wrong.

I redid the calculator with 0 tax liability and earned income from a job and it says i'll get $1200. (  ? )  We'll see I guess. Great if we do get some money.

Looks like we will be entitled to a rebate of $1200.00.

More for the "sock" and I will believe it when it comes and I cash it, and can hold it in my little hands.

...and may the Lord bless us, with all we need. AMEN

LOL, amen wv, I feel the same way.  I told dh that if there's a way we can miss out, we will.  They'll either run out of $$ before they get to the "L's", people that live in a yellow house don't get any, tall people lose out...you get the idea.  We didn't get it last time and I don't expect it this time, either, no matter what they say.  Free money ain't free...Liz

Looks like we will get around $1800  back form good old Sam. I am SO happy We have had our two kids sharing a room for four years now. A 8 year old girl and 4 year old boy both need their own space! I am hoping that with what we get back from rebate then form tax refund we should be able to finsh the upstairs of our home and add two more rooms and a bathroom to the house. Then maybe we will get something other then hoem depo cards for birthdays!  We have been doing a little work at a time of the upstairs pretty much on our own with help from friends and family who give their time and help. Labors of love! Right now we have a open kitchen and living room small bathroom and tow small bedrooms. The kids don't have much room at all so i will be very happy to have the rooms done. Then our room will become the den and the kids will have their own rooms. Both of them can't wait! Thank Mr Bush! BEAN <><

     Bean,

At least you won't be in debt for enlarging your home.
