    Straw Bale gardening

     Anyone have experience with this method?

    I have seen this on many websites on the Internet. Not sure if they put dirt in a hole in the straw bale, otherwise I question the amount of nutrients that the vegetables would be getting; winding up with inferior vegetables that may look good but have not much nutritional value. I would also be interested in knowing more about this too. I go to another forum called The Simple Living Forums by the New Road Foundation You may want to post your question there I bet that you would get a lot of answers! :)

     I never even did this in my life I only saw it on the mother earth news magazine or utube orther wise I never knew people can get it done this  way..Zip it!

    2 years  ago DH and DS did it as a 4F project he grew tomatoes they did very well another kids tried to do peppers and werent so sucessful ..  DH said it had  some problems One thing I remember is a couple of the kids said they had a problem with mice .DS said youi be hard present to grow a garden in a bale

    DS might not like a small space he was born here on 400 acres and now we are about 1350 he just know lots land makes for a huge garden and bale are small

    I read about the mice problem too. One man tried to grow potatoes but had mice, Babs

     I think my 6 cats would take care of the mouse problem, lol.
