haverwench:Being the eco-conscious gal I am, I signed up to receive my MBNA credit card statements electronically through Bank of America's online banking service, rather than getting a paper statement in the mail. ... For two months I didn't receive my credit card bill, either electronically or by mail. I noticed something was up when I went into online banking and saw that my credit card was listed as "past due."
I had the same above experience with signing up for electronic statements (this was with a phone bill). They were to notify me monthly by e-mail that the bill was ready for online payment. Last winter, a couple months went by where I received no e-mail notification at all. Of course, time flew by, Christmas came & went - I didn't even realize I hadn't been paying that bill. In Jan, when I went online, I realized! A big bill, plus interest & late charges were there.
haverwench, they said the same thing to me - I am responsible even if not notified. I explained that there had been no e-mail notifications, and with the holidays, plus business & personal bills to handle, it was just overlooked. So yeah, I squeaked pretty loudly and pointed out that, for as long as I had their service, I've always paid my bill and paid it on time. Plus, I wanted to know why the e-mail notifications had stopped. They relented and credited back the interest and late fees. Plus I went back to paper statementing. A few weeks later, I got an e-mail from their technical support. They had a problem in their system and confirmed it was the reason for no e-mail notifications.
In many instances, I've found the squeaky wheel does get the grease!
