    Re: February Debt Check In

I decided to check on actual balances to be sure I have accurate numbers:

    • $1,879.92- Truck
    • $600- Radiology
    • $825.08- Cell Phone
    Total Debt: $3,305

I need to get a statement for radiology to compare the numbers to be sure they match. They seem to be bad about sending statements. We are also still waiting for the cell provider to add the cancellation fees to the account.

As I was looking through my info to check numbers, I also found I miscalculated the pay off date on the truck. If we actually paid only what is owed each month, the last payment is due in July not August. We still hope to pay that off a bit sooner than that.

Wow big cell phone bill!  hopefully the rest of the fees are not that much.     Well since I have a job now, hopefully I can put some of the homestay money towards debt or emergency fund and use the money earned for extras & vet bills.  Except for mortgage which goes down, the rest stays steady.

I expect the cancellation fees to be about $400.

My husband now has 175 plus calls in his phone log everyday so I am very glad that we are no longer responsible for providing the cell phone and mobile internet card.

Debts:Mortgage and Home equity loan: $64000 and $28000, now combined at $94000 at 4.843% (borrowed $2000 for closing costs)

Credit card #1 (medical and overspending): (previously $6800) now $4300

Best Buy Card: (lap top computer/printer at 0% interest for 18 months): $200 left (DH will pay off in full on Feb 1st) YEA!

We are making progress. We did refinance our 2 loans saving us $350 a month. Our goal is to use the $350 each month to pay off the last of the credit card debt ($4300) and then put 1/3 into emergency savings and 1/3 back toward the principal of the mortgage and 1/3 to meet our monthly expenses. This 1/3 is important and will keep us from putting groceries and gas on credit. We can pay cash. Big Smile

We are not planning on changing our lifestyle because we will have $350 more a month, lol. We simply cannot go back to running up the cards. They are Gone. It won't happen immediately as the $4300 needs to be paid off. But with what we pay now ($300 a month) plus the extra $350 a month, that can be done in 6-7 months. Less if we get a tax refund.

    Re: February Debt Check In

We have a mortgage, car payment (0% interest but still a lot of money going out each month), and 3 credit cards.  I am focusing my efforts on my credit card with the highest interest rate-it also has the lowest balance of the three.

Current balance of that card is $4511.53

I am trying to focus on one thing at a time to encourage my progress.  If I total all the debt up, well it's a little depressing, so one step at a time.

My goal for February is to pay $1000 to credit card debts.  $375 will go to the other two cards minimum payments.  The remaining $625 will go the the card I am working on right now.  I will find this $1000 to devote to debt payment by cutting spending as much as possible and selling some items on eBay.

Also, still waiting for tax info so as soon as the last item comes in, we'll figure out our taxes-hoping for a refund as we have some tax credits left over from last year to apply.  Any refund will be applied to debt.

Also plan to add about $150 to emergency fund to replenish it back to $1000 after depleting it last year.

I am really committed to making this happen this month!!

    yuck you would ask that.

    Tractor loan 1642.

all credit cards now are 9100.

I have $2300 cash in the house and an expected return of $6000 Feb 8th., I am paying off the tractor loan and $5200 against the cards. Son is paying this month $600 against one of the cards (0%) for a purchase he made. That should leave my debt at $3300 in February. I need enough cash for an emergency fund or fix the van...whichever we decide first.

Close, but not quite to my wanting to be free of consumer debt by March 2008.
