So, sometimes I just go it alone.

It's no secret that I am a single with grown children. Many of my friends are married with children still at home. They're in a busy time of their lives and don't have as much solitary time as I do. Plus, I live in an apartment building and that is a lot different from living in your own house.

One thing I miss is not having a place to BBQ. There is a small park nearby, however, where anyone can use the outdoor grills and so, one morning in October I did! Smile

The catalpa tree looked like white washed bones in the clear October morning sun.

I had my box of supplies, including a cup of coffee and a good book to read.

It didn't take long for the coals to get nice and hot.

I had the park all to myself. If you don't count the park staff riding around on their mowers, shredding fallen leaves. Smile

    The chicken was wonderful!

I can't wait until the park opens at the end of April and they set up the grills again.

    Budgetwise,

That chicken on the grill looks so good. I am really liking your photos.

What a nice park to spend time relaxing, eating and reading. I have a park near me. I like to go walk around the pond . Babs

Budgetwise - We bar-b-que/grill a lot but on Sunday afternoon, seems like we always have people come out and spend the day.  Might want to bring a lawn chair, but come on over anytime.  Sometimes a group will decide to take a walk in the woods or grab a pole and a tackle box and see what's biting in the lake.  DH will probably clean your catch for you.

I can feel the lovely smell of your BBQd chicken right here!!! I love grilled chicken, especially if it is fresh and grilled on wood, but seldom get around to light up the fire... also mainly because I have no perfect place to put it... though I can pull it off every once in a while.

What a serene time you must have had! I liken these times to a 'long, cool, drink of water'! I specially love the picture of the tree. Oddly enough my favorite time for trees is often winter when the dark bark looks so great against the sky!

Solo sacred space time is so important, always fun to go to the park for a picnic and nature/me space. What book are you reading dear?

Kassy, I agree with you. There is so much beauty in the contrast of light and dark.

BB...I'm sorry, don't remember the book title.
