May have to give up job

Don't know if this goes here . Anyway I had mentioned before that my hours at work would probably be cut to 16 hours per week.Well it looks like that is going to happen, but I'm going to talk to my boss about getting more hours.I was going to talk to her before but we ran into alot of problems at work with the water- coulnt use it, and then the elevator broke so it's been kinda stressful for us to say the least. She made us a cheesecake to thank us for being good troopers and not quitting-we all thought about it lol. Anyway I go to work yesterday and find out she did 2 interviews on Friday. We barely have the hours for those that we have now.So now I dont know if I can get the hours or if I can pick up extra hours in the laundry department. We need my extra income because it does help us "breathe" a little bit but at 32 hours per 2 weeks at $8.57 an hour -plus taxes at a higher single rate taken out... is it worth it?

Anne, if you need this income, can you look around and find another job before quitting? Or at least look at the possibilities?

I will definitely be staying until I found another job. Some income is better than none. She also hired someone on Friday as well. WE in the kitchen believe that she did it to save costs. If you work 21 or more hours per week they have to offer you benefits. By hiring more she can keep us at 16. My next pay period will only have 28 hours on it for 2 weeks.

My sil to be, said she will give me the money to get my cna so I can just move upstairs with her and get paid more plus more hours. DH says if it will make you happy then ok if it's not going to then no. Money isn't worth it to him if it makes me miserable= him not happy either. When momma aint happy, then nobody is.

Sounds like you have a good handle on it, then. Good luck in whatever you decide.

Just from experience being a CNA is very demanding on your back and very stressfull.  Myabe shawdow your SIL for a day or two before committing to this to see if it is something you would enjoy doing.

Thanks. I only hope I have the patience for it still. I used to do home care as I am a PCW , however I am older than I was - I know I'm  35. I just wonder about that. I've seen the cna's get literally locked with a tray, so I am so not sure if I have the patience. But I do enjoy talking with them and stuff ;ike that.I will let ya'll know what happens. Thanks for thesupport. It's nice to be able to come on here and know that we all are willing to help each other as needed.
