    4 in a room-

Moving my three year old up with the 11 yo,8yo and 5 yo daughters- with three beds, the little two will share.  There are three beds with built-in drawers, I have tried to seperate with bookshelves to give each their own space- now with 4 it is very cluttered.  Thinking of cutting down on the shelves-

Anyone have great ideas for sharing?  It is a distinctive space, the attic-y type, with the ceiling coming down on both sides.  There are built-in little dressers and desks across from the beds.  I redid the floor with wood looking laminate. The bed space is paneled to the ceiling, then I painted sky blue and some flowers and trees. The ceiling is sky blue with clouds and a sun.

I have denim curtains with embroidered flowers.

I don't have any ideas. My mind is just reeling at how different little girls and boys can be, tho it's not PC to say so. My two boys in one room would have been mayhem. Your girl's room sounds lovely, Tracy!

     Tracy,

Have you considered bunk beds to save on space? I know they aren't really cheap for good ones and it's not an option right this moment but maybe save up for a set at a time?

With bunk beds you can put the boys at one side of the room and the girls at the other side to save space if the room is large enough put a self in the middle each child can have a shelf ledge to put thier things on the rest is up to you.....

Bunk beds wouldn't work, it is an attic type room- the walls come down- think of being in a ship!

It's a story and a half.  They are in the half!  I'll try to take a few photos, need a new battery for the camera.

Chamomile- the 11 yo girl still wishes she shared a room with her 13 yo brother, they are very good friends- I thought it was time to split them up about a year and a half ago.

What about trunks? You always see that in shared rooms. Each person having a trunk at the end of the bed for their own things. Is there storage room in the eaves?

This probably isn't too practical, given that you already have beds with built in drawers, but wouldn't trundle beds look cute in that room? Each girl would have her own bedspace and it would free up an area for other things ,as  the trundle beds slide under the regular beds. (fun imagining seting up a girl's room, after 25 plus years of rooms decorated mostly with sweatsocks and hot wheels cars : )

    Tracy,

Oh of course. I forgot about it being an attic type room which would mean oddly shaped and low ceilings.

Tracy, do you have 4 bedrooms? if so, your girls are in one, sons in another and you guys in a 3rd, is your college aged daughter in the 4th? if so maybe it is time to move the next oldest girls in there since she is away a lot? just an idea.  My two  (girl/boy) share a small 8x10 bedroom at the moment, when they are older, one of them or us will move to downstairs bedroom which is the homestay bedroom at the moment so we wouldn't be able to have homestay student. We can make a small attic room but would have to make stairs though the 2nd bedroom closet (over the basement stairs) so either the opening would be from our room or theirs, so wouldn't be totally private. unless we move the computer office to their room and make two bedrooms downstairs instead.  or win the lottery  and totally redo the house!! lol
