    Christmas Gifts Ideas Under $5

I know it's a bit early but I'm trying to find nice gifts under $5!   Not everyone on my list will appreciate a homemade gift, so I need some other ideas, particularly for my ever growing bible study group.

It just occured to me that I could probably find some nice wedding favours for under $5.  I was poking around on myweddingfavors.com and found these ideas

    1. Mini sewing kit - $2.05
    2. Monogrammed Purse Mirror - $1.56
    3. Snowflake Bookmark (silver tone, gift boxed)  $ 1.99
    4. Monogrammed Notecards  $0.75 per pack of 10 cards
    5. Wine Opener - $2.50
    6. Spreaders - $ 2.00 (perfect for the cheese and pate lovers on my list)

I haven't looked around at other wedding favour sites but I'm sure I'll find nice inexpensive ideas

That takes care of the women - now I need to find ideas for the guys...   Please feel free to share your $5 or less ideas.

I think that you can get gift cards or certificates for around $5.00 for fast food places. For example....$5.00 used to buy a calendar for Chic-fil-A and it has a coupon for all 12 months.

Maybe the donut shops have gift cards.

    WM has $5.00 gift cards.

No WM or Chic-Fil-A here, but I do like the idea of gift certificates for fast food places

I so love your posts. I most lurk but have been trying to participate more. This is one of my favorite topics. As a Christmas enthusiast, I think that one day soon my family would do well to stage an intervention LOL!!!!!

    Anyway, among gifts under $5:

    1. Cookbook with the main ingredient being beer - $1  My husband loves to cook with beer. I'm not too crazy about it but I have to say this book has some great recipes using all types of beer. I think he'll have fun with this one.

    2. Shampoo for a stocking stuffer for husband

    3. A Disney princess puzzle for youngest daughter - $1

    4. A grandparent's memory keeper for art projects and pictures $1

That's it so far for gifts under $5 but I am just getting started.

I use dealnews.com for inexpensive stocking stuffers and gifts. Merilite is normally the site I buy them from. I bought an LED flashlight keychain for .79 and a microphone for a laptop for .59. I use them all the time. They always have good stuff and shipping is usually free.

Re: Christmas Gifts Ideas Under $5

Thanks!  Glad to see that there's someone almost as "Christmas-crazy" as I am!

Just got back from the dollar store and found a couple of things:-

    1. Very pretty silk-looking scarves.  The original packaging is quite tacky, but the scarves are really pretty.  By the time I finish working my gift-wrapping magic on them, they will look like a much more expensive gift.
    2. Really nice looking men's dress socks - I can bundle a few pairs, dress up the packaging a bit to make a nice gift for BIL
    3. Table runners in ivory, deep red and green - I can hand embroider poinsettia, holly or other Christmas motifs and give as hostess gifts
    4. Plain white plates - I will hand paint a Christmas design on them using paints leftover from another project.  Not intended for food use, purely decorative, so I'll add an inexpensive plate stand for display
    5. Unusual bowls - I will plant cacti (free, baby cacti as my DD would say, from my own cactus in my kitchen window)  Dress up with dollar store river rocks, left over from another project, to create inexpensive "tablescapes"

I'm getting really excited!  I love Christmas!

Another idea - use a photo editor to add effects to digital photos of your friends and relatives, print the "jazzed up" photos and put them in inexpensive frames.  I've been experimenting on www.lunapic.com  (it's free!)  I love the black and white effect, but I think my favourite is the motivational poster.  The Warhol effect is good too.  I'll be making motivational posters for a few people on my list, including our children.

Thankfully, my printer actually does a pretty decent job of printing photos and I already have a box of glossy photo paper on hand, so I can save on the cost of taking them somewhere to be printed.

My challenge now is to remember to walk with my fully charged camera!  I want to have lots of photos to choose from
