HI KABIN  I LOVE YOUR IDEA FOR PAPER MACHE' BOWLS. THIS REMINDED ME OF WHAT A FRIEND OF MINE DID YEARS AGO. SHE USED TO TAKE DOILES AND SOAK THEM IN FABRIC STIFFENER AND SHAPE THEM AROUND THE BOTTOM OF A BOWL AND LET DRY. THEY WERE THE CUTEST THINGS AND SO EASY.

Ok, feeling home-sick, gotta stop now LOL.

You know, I think everyone gets a touch of "homesickness" around the holidays. Maybe it's called nostalgia for some of us, though.

Mom never baked cookies so much, but pumpkin pies and chocolate cakes... oh, my. I can smell it now.

I saw another idea that looks pretty awesome in a book I checked out from the library. The book is called "Dough Folk Art". There are so many cool ideas in there, even bowls that are made from dough and painted, then sealed and become something useful, yet it's all done on the cheap. Ah, decisions, decisions. What will I do? I think I will try both and see which one I like better. LOL I am bad about making up mind.

I'm sorry you can't go to see your parents, Ariana. I hope you can find a way soon.

Ariana, I pray that God will make a way for you to go home for Christmas. Life is too short to miss that special time with family. For many years, my parents were in NC and it was hard for us to travel for holidays. Now all my family except my Mom are dead. She moved to be with me. Those memories are precious for me that even when we were broke , tired and felt that it was too much, we were able to go.  Keep us posted if a way pops up for you to go.Babs

Money is just too tight on both ends to fly, as are the condition of the cars

Could you do a video type conference thing on over the internet? Do they have a pc and a video lens to hook up? What about you? Might be a cheap way to spend some time together. See each other again. Praying God will make a way for you to be together again.

Those sound very cute as well. I really like that idea too.
