 I've recycled aluminum cans and I've sold clothing at a consignment store, but that's about all from her list. She has some good ideas, though.

We have sold lots of stuff: clothing, tools, decor, "stuff".   We collect returnables every day when we go for our walks.  In MI the deposit is .10 per bottle/can and it really adds up.  Amazing that to so many people that .10 is just trash to throw out into the ditch or road.  We sold lots of books at rummage prices as well.  Another thing we do is to glean the treasures from other's trash, clean it up, repair if needed, and resell at rummage prices or freecycle the item.

 I do online surveys that pay.

 I used to bring items to a local consignment shop. I should be able to bring some things in soon and start doing that again.

Our local used bookstore gives credits but the consignment shop will take books to sell so I let the bookstore have first shot at my books then bring the rest to the consignment store.

Brandy, are they paying for each survey or are you entered into drawings for each survey (I'm part of the latter but found one that does points towards $).

I got in on one a few years ago that pays for each survey. When others began doing the sweepstakes, they continued to pay. But they only take new panel members in when they need them.

Brandy, can you name the place? Would they just take my name for future acceptance?

I've done the kids' clothes thing...there is a store here that is not consignment, but will outright buy your things.  I've done the used book store for credit only.  I'm a member of a survey panel but apparently I never fit their demographics because I've yet to get past the "screening" portion of the surveys.  My family used to recycle cans when I was growing up for extra dough, but now we have curbside recycling, so that's not really an option (and we don't drink soda or beer, so no cans anymore).

My best way of coming up with a little extra is to do some freelance work and HIDE THE CHECK.  This year, I've got a stash set aside for Christmas already.  I also babysit for $$ occasionally.  I faithfully submit rebates if we have them.
