Yes, indeed, Karen; I have always heard that baby powder is talcum powder, which is actually dangerous to breathe.  Cornstarch is much safer AND, as you   say, much cheaper.  Yours in Him, Deb

For using as a moisturizer or something of that nature, wouldn't a bottle of olive oil from Dollar Tree or something like that do just as well?  I see it for $1 a bottle. Or do they not accept food stamps?

I didn't realise that baking soda mixed that way helps heart burn.

    Welcome AndiTan!

I don't qualify for food stamps, etc., yet.........but, I'm inclined to agree with you. If I had $50 in food stamps and $10 in cash, I'd go with the olive oil also. It has so many other uses, you may kill more birds with the one stone (olive oil) than the cheaper mineral oil.

I'd hate to HAVE no oil in the house to put on my salad but mineral oil :).

Again, welcome, and feel free to speak your mind and share your tips. We are listening--well, reading actually, but we try to help.

    cheers, jane b

Some of the baby powders come with cornstarch and cost more than the kinds without. Not only do they cost more but a container will cost more than a box of cornstarch.

Dear Alllie, I have never found a dollar store that accepts SNAP/Food Stamps.  That doesn't mean that there aren't any!  It's worth an inquiry @ the store counter -- but ask BEFORE you shop, to avoid hassle.  Yours in Him, Deb

I really don't know if any of the dollar stores accept it or not.  I was on TANF when my 9 yr old was a baby but got a good paying job so was off it within a year.  In fact, when I was on it was during the transition from the old coupons to the EBT cards.  Since then, I don't know a lot about who accepts the EBT cards and who doesn't. I have also seen olive oils at Save A Lot for under $4.

Daer Allie, Only supermarket chaiins are required to accept SNAP/Food Stamps, so far as I've been able to figure out.  Some other stores -- like India Bazar -- do accept them, & even some Farmers' Markets accept them, but you have to ask -- preferably, before you pick out your food & bring it to the counter!  Yours in Him, Deb
