Carmina:How much do you spend?
On the treats that DH passes out, or the ones he eats?
Seriously, I volunteer to work on Halloween, even tho it is not holiday pay - many of the other RNs are young with families & would like the night off, so it buys a little goodwill at work, & gets me out of trick or treating. When the kids were younger, we lived on a section between 2 cul-de-sacs, so I bought 1-2 bags of candy & it was usually enough. One bag would be enough where we now live, but DH eats the bag I buy a couple of times before the 31st, so I usually spend about $10 replacing "the bag." He turns off the light at 8pm & goes to bed. I don't mind passing out candy to the younger kids, but I don't appreciate teenagers with pillowcases full of candy, asking "those are small, can I take 2?", or just grabbing a handful, so when the local young children have come by, we are done & turn out the light.
I buy gluten-free candy to pass out. That way, either DH can eat the leftovers, or they go into the grandchildren stash.
