Good point, Michele.  And I also agree with Toni B talking about being prosperous not being equal to needing material things.  Are you happy and content in your life?  You are prosperous.

I agree with the way you are doing things.  Who cares?   I have been known to cut the tubes of certain products to get several more uses out of them.   Why not?  I still like nice things and can envision them.

i am with you, carmina!  i was thinking this exact thing, this morning- hanging laundry to dry in the basement!  it helped me save money so i was able to fly to see a suddenly ill close relative.

To me, riches are not money and "stuff". Riches is peace of mind & being able to buy something you really want because you were frugal in other areas that don't matter as much to you.

Carmina- Sounds to me like you are doing just fine.  Perhaps your friend is  bothered because she's worse off financially than you are,  and that she is trying to ruin your mood.I see nothing wrong with what you are doing (I would have added water to the pinesol and made more product also!).Keep up whatever you are doing!!!

    Hi

There is a big difference between being "cheap" and being frugal. You have adopted a good attitude towards getting more bang for your buck by saving a little bit here and there. Frugal thinking is simply careful thinking. I know many frugal folks who own good quality items, but were wise enough to get those items at discounts, at consignments, etc.

I say, keep up the great work, and frugal mindset.

Just to let you know, that personally, my frugal mentality came a long way from the way I used to think. Looking back, at the mistakes I've made by not respecting money as much as I do now, definitely came at a price. However, the good news is that we do learn from our mistakes, and am so glad.

    Carmina,

Your friend's comment was just her opinion, nothing more. I once read that Queen Elizabeth turns off lights in whichever palace she happens to be in, if she thinks nobody is in the room. She purportedly turned off the lights in the room Princess Diana would be in.. reading, dancing, etc :)

I think I understand her philosophy.. to see yourself as "rich" and capable of generosity which many believe (including myself) will come back to reward you. i dont think putting water in soap bottles (and ketchup at my house, bbq sauce etc) is enough to affect how you see yourself.

    Keep living richly.. :)
