I think that we'll be ordering 2 signature boxes and 2 produce boxes for November. Is it weird that there isn't a Christmas box yet listed for the Nov order?

The menu for this month does look good I will probably get the signature box and one produce box.  With that and the food I am getting from Share www.sharewi.org  I will be all set.  Seeing what they have I do think I will do both from now on, either way I have to go in November to pick up the holiday box.

Too much fish stuff lately for us and we still have plenty of breaded chicken, so I'm only ordering one sig box.  I'll either buy two produce boxes or choose a meat box to replace the extra sig box.  Did anyone else notice that the box marketed as "Beef and Chicken box" has no chicken in it?  Fine with me, but I was worried they'd messed it up - I don't need any more chicken at all.  Liz.

Could you use the zucchini in a minestrone soup? What about mixing the cauliflower w/ broccoli and after steaming them, cover with a cheese sauce, add fine bread crumbs and bake thru

The children would probably be willing to try cauliflower steamed with cheese over it. I don't care for it steamed myself and my husband doesn't it at all. Thanks for the tip. I hadn't thought of this at all.

I am thinking of using the fish fillets to make fish sandwiches on toasted buns, w/ homemade tartersauce, lettuce (cheese and tomato optional) HTH

I meant that we hadn't gotten fish patties from Angel Food. Sorry for the confusion.

I prefer fish patties to real fish, odd as that may sound. I haven't bought any in awhile as the price went up on them at the store.

Last year was the first time that a holiday meal box was offered. I am really not sure what to expect.

I am wondering now if perhaps this one box was meant to cover all the holidays rather than having separate orders for each.

I've found that processed, fzn fish is very expensive compared to buying fzn or fresh fish fillets. This is true even during Lent, when our family observes meatless Friday's. Occassionally our local IGA will have a sale on Mrs Paul's around Lent, and I combine that with a doubled cpn for additional savings. Fzn patties/sticks are a treat here. Typically, it's tuna or canned salmon. WIsh I could afford more. : (

I'd rather have the better quality whole battered or breaded filet sticks than the the minced-and-filled-out-with-bread-crumbs variety of fish sticks we've been getting.  I imagine the 'breaded patties' will be the same way - more filler than fish.  I wish it was Mrs. Paul's - the quality's much better.

Quality canned tuna and salmon has been fairly reasonable here on sale.  I'm really the only one that will eat it here, though, so I generally fix it for lunch...Liz.

That would be great but the price likely exceeds what AF is willing to pay per item to keep the cost of boxes down.

LIz, I wasn't too thrilled with the AF fish sticks. We got 2 signature boxes, so I ended up with 2 pkgs. Maybe I overcooked the first batch, as I found those to be barely tolerable, even if loaded w/ ketchup (the kids) or tarter sauce. The second batch, for whatever reason, came out better. I think they were the same brand. I am not sure. They were cooked a few weeks apart.

Fish patties could be better, will have to wait and see. I am planning on serving these as a "Fillet-o-fish" type dinner sandwich.  Several posters have commented that they have yet to have the fish fillets, and I assume that they have been using AF much longer than us (this is our 3rd month). Still, considering the overall price of the signature boxes (I never include a dessert cost) I am still coming out ahead, $ wise by participating in AF. With a cold, rainy Spring and Summer, local gardens were hard pressed to produce much this year. It's already snowing here in CT-about a month early. I am certain that I lost my pole beans. All I have left are root veggies, with I keep in the ground until Thanksgiving (makes the carrots sweeter). Produce is already expensive here in CT, I've priced out the upcoming Nov produce box, it's a real deal for me. I'll be getting 2, as we are a larger family of 6.
