he slept with me on the bed, & duly moved over from the bottom of the bed next to my feet when I wanted to stretch out froom having been curled up.
I just love the comfort of having a pet in bed. Isn't it amazing how easily they adapt to the creature comforts?

If you're looking for a good training treat, PetsMart carries a freeze-dried beef liver training treat that Sable adores.  There are no additives of any kind - it just freeze-dried beef liver.  I found it when I was looking for training treats that had no additives.   The manager at PetsMart assured me that if Sable didn't like them, I could bring them back, because it is $15 a tub - but the tub lasts for months (the last one I bought last December, and it's not empty yet), and the treats are chopped into 1/2-1" squares that could be cut smaller if you wanted to.  I like them better than other things I was using (bits of chopped up hot dog, an organic salami-type treat that had to be chopped up, etc.) because they don't need to be refrigerated - when I take them with me a just put a few in a baggie I keep to carry them in.

My little dog sleeps with us and if he doesn't go to bed when I do, I can't go to sleep.

I was also looking for a treat without additives and with NO corn products.  I asked my vet and he told me to use carrots.  Just plain old cut up carrots.  My little dog loves them so they are the only thing I use for treats now.  I  buy the baby carrots when they are on sale.  I cut them up and keep them in a container in the fridge.

I wish Sable would eat carrots... but he doesn't like them :(

Deb, my "heart" is just singing for joy for you! You will be the most amazing "mother" to her it is quite obvious. What a lucky girl she is. I have tears in my eyes for you!

When I asked God "why don't you help all the suffering people?" He said "thats what I put you here for".

Deb, this is so wonderful! I know your life will be so enriched by having this animal. Without my cats, I fear to think what might have happened to me. Animals can hold us steady.

I just wanted to ask about holding her. This, because I have a friend who is blind and has a Service Dog. He has said that because he is a working dog, he doesn't get very affectionate physically with him. But he did tell me (this was quite a while ago) that training the dog involved letting the dog know how to behave when "on duty" and when he was off-duty, too.

I know you will do just the right things in training Heart. And she will train you, too!

I can't imagine your happiness. We all are rejoicing with you.

    Shalom
