    Lemon Tree

I planted some seeds from a lemon just to see what it would do in my experimentation with plants.

I have green leaves popping up! I have no idea what to expect or how to care for a lemon tree in a planter. Anyone have some tips to share?

My Mom has a lemon and a mandrin orange tree.  She didn't start them from seeds though.  I do know that she had to feed them regularly with a plant food specially designed for citrus trees.  I don't know if the seedlings would be ready for that or not though.  Maybe a trip to the local nursery could help?

Watch out for thorns!  Citrus trees grow some nasty thorns.

You shouldn't have to do much but water and feed it and make sure it gets sunshine. If the pot isn't very big, you'll have to repot it when it gets bigger.

This pot isn't much smaller than the buckets some of us used for tomato and other veggie planting. The planter I use for this will need to be able to work inside and look decorative since I will have to haul it in.

There is room in my bathroom for it. What a place for a lemon tree, lol!

It should be ok for quite awhile then.

At least you have room for it! Smile

It amazes me how this house has filled with stuff.

I have bamboo in planters in the living room and the kids' bath so mine really needs some life in it anyway.

    Brandy,

That is so awesome that you sprouted a lemon tree! I don't know if it will ever bear fruit. If it was from a hybrid lemon, it won't. But that would be too cool if it did!

I just read a law that says something like "Stuff expands to fill every empty space." I kept looking at this house and wondering what I need all this "stuff" for. Now I know... I need it to fill the empty spaces.

    Pat, that's too funny!

I've heard that law, too. It used to be that the military would move us at least every three years. That was our cue to thin out the stuff we'd accumulated and donate it to charity. (I hate holding yard sales.)

Now that we plan to retire and stay put for at least four more years, I'm wondering how much useless stuff we'll acquire.
