Re: No Spend Days... October 5 thru 9th

Today was a spendy day for me.

    • $30 on gas
    • $7 at the dollar tree -- 1 cake pan w/lid (for donating cake for school fundraiser), 2 packs of basic math flashcards for DD's Christmas stocking, 1 pack of apple decorative paper for DD's teacher's Christmas gift, 3 Halloween items to add to my collection (bigger house, too, to decorate, but I'm happy with getting the living room & kitchen done)
    • $21 at walmart -- $5 on the last stocking stuffer gift for DD (only have to put some candies in there and will be done!), and $14 on 2 fabric shower curtains in yellow, orange & pink

I'm super excited about the shower curtains b/c I'm going to turn them into the curtains for DD's room.  She wants a blue room and we are doing white trim & accents.  DH is adding flowers and butterflies in... orange, yellow, and pink!!!!  These are the type of curtains that have button holes instead of plastic or metal grommets, which means that cafe clips will work to hold them in place and once they are hemmed, you won't even be able to tell they were shower curtains!  I'm really excited.  As I keep looking I keep finding stuff uber-cheap.  OH!  And they rang up at $7 instead of the $11 they were marked.  Even better!

My original plan was to convert yellow sheets to curtains, but these are just too perfect.  With the 2 shower curtains, I have more than enough material to cover the large window and the 2 smaller windows; it's all together in a bay window unit.  I'm glad I'm just biding my time b/c waiting is paying off.  I never realized how much my impatience costs me.  Literally!  LOL

Tomorrow is groceries, but it's another short list!

The whole point of turkey is to get to the pie.

its amazing what we find to suit our needs.

spent $21 at iga on 2 toupie hams and half priced buns and lemon mer. pie. the hams were 7.89 each  2kg which is 4.4lbs so that is a good price so got two.  I cut the hams in half for 4 meals.

I did good today!  Had a busy day but didn't spend any money . . . well except I paid bills so that is spending a lot of money!!

But I didn't buy anything so that is a success!

Day Four, no spend!  Not a dime.  I was thinking it would be kind of cool to see my deposits on the same sheet in my check balance instead of pages and pages apart separated by nothing but spends!!  ;-)

Tonight I made some pasta and had some sauce with some left over brocolli (as planned).  I am not pulling any meat or anything down from the freezer because DD will have dinner with her dad tomorrow night so I can have some soup and a sandwich.  Also she is with him most of the weekend, so I am going to make do.  I have some dogs, turkey bacon, some beef and thats about it.  But that can last me all next week easily.

I really don't want to spend any money until sunday and then just as little as possible.  Lettuce and the like.

Saturday night going out with a friend to a halloween spooky thing, looking forward to that!  Something else to scare me besides my debt and money issues.

Good job today Jenn and everyone!

dmc, you are doing great, I finally had a no spend day today. Monday I had to put gas in my car. Tuesday we went ahead and ordered DD's Christmas present- had a coupon so saved $160.00 off the reg. price. Wednesday I did not feel well, had a mid-term to study for and church so swiched the meal plan around and had pizza for dinner instead of waiting until Friday, but instead of making it, we bought it, so money out for that. Tomorrow should also be a no spend day.

Thursday was not a no spend day for me.  I spent $8.00 to run my truck through the car wash.  I have to go pick up DS#1 today and my windows on the outside were so dirty, so I used the car wash.   Today will also not be a no spend day.  I will be leaving to go get DS#1 for fall break as soon as I drop off DS#2 at school.  It usually takes me a little over 2 hours to drive there and of course about 2 hours to drive back home.  I should be able to do that on a single tank of gas, but will have to fill up my truck when I get back home.  It will be good to have DS#1 home, even if it's just for 4 days.

Yesterday was a no spend day!

I'm hoping that today will be a no spend day as well.  I need some groceries, but think that I can wait until tomorrow to do that.  If I wait with groceries then it will definitely be a no spend day.

Tomorrow DS has three soccer games back to back.  Then DH and DS are going to the university's football game.  A friend gave us two tickets.

DMC: Hang in there girl.  Your situation sounds just like my best friend and her daughter years ago but they made it and so will you. Her daughter is now 22 and the two of them have a closer than average relationship.

So far I've only spent $11.45 during these no spend days.  I will have to stop by the store on my way home from work for shredded cheese for nachos for Fun Friday food night tonight though.  The Service Engine light came on in my car on my way home yesterday.  We are holding out til payday on the 27th to have it looked at.  For now DH and I are sharing his pick up, which should work out okay since DS has a vehicle too that we can use.  Not sure how much this will cost to fix and I know that's what the emergency fund is for but I'd much rather wait until payday and hope that the expense is low enough I can pay without dipping into savings.  Until then my car can just sit in the garage.

    Keep on savin'

Haven't spent any money yet today!  But, this may change.  I've invited a few friends to our house for drinks and such after we all go to do a cornfield maze tomorrow.  So need to look and see what I have available food wise so I can do some appetizers.  Shouldn't cost too much.  I might buy whatever I need today to save time tomorrow as I'll be busy with soccer and such.

    Doing good though!

I think everyone is doing great!  Today I made 80.00 working on some computers.  I won't get paid until I bill, but money is coming in and not going out so that is a good start!

Lee, DD and I are very close.  She is a lovely child, so awesome.  I am a lucky mom.  It is my day off  my regular job so we got to spend a few more minutes this morning and she was saying that she is going to eiher wait for santa to get her boots or take money out of her savings, or earn some of her own.  What a great kid.  I guess she really does want some new boots after all.  I don't get her much lately, so I might just cave and take her to Wallmart, they are there for just about 13.00.   I hope she would be happy with that.

I am going to be by Wallmart this weekend because I have a 20% off coupon for Big Lots and it expires this weekend and I buy my cheapo Laundry soap there, and their cheapo Oxigen powder additive.  I will get enough to last a couple months, its so cheap.

Just pulled out some corn muffins and one corn bread from the oven.  I pulled out some turkey bacon to defrost, for sandwiches and breakfast.  I don't have much to buy this weekend as far as groceries, I am really trying to stretch it.  I am almost at budget already.

I hope I don't break down and get some wine tonight, I sure could use some!  Tuff week!
