    Okay, another magazine...

Has anyone had this happen? I've gotten 2 issues of US magazine (never heard of it until these issues arrived).

I never ordered it, and it's not on the National Magazine Exchanges list of choices.

Has anyone had magazines come that you know nothing about, just out of the blue like this...and what does this mean, that they will bill me? I have sent both back Return To Sender, Unwanted.

Seems as if someone in the magazine world has something against me!

We get stuff like that all the time.

Probably the maddest I ever got was with one of those Readers Digest condenced versions books.  Keep in mind that I hate to read and the last thing on my list would be any kind of a novel - full version or concenced.  They started sending them to the house, then started sending the bills, then when we didn't pay they started threatening collections.  They are talking to my husband trying to convince him that I did order them.  He is telling them that there are a lot of things his wife orders but he KNOWS that this is not one of them.

The funniest is when my cat got a phone call.  You know those product registration forms that say they do not sell your info to other places?  Mom and I wanted to test out that statement so we filled out a card with my cats name on it.  Let me tell you she started getting more mail then I did.  Not only that but they tracked her through 2 moves and a name change (my marriage to hubby).  It is scary because we only filled out 1 form.  She then started getting magazines (and bills) in her name!  We get a call about one of them and hubby answers.  He has the funniest look on his face and the one side I am hearing sounds very odd.  Finally he says something like "Grace is my cat!  I can hold the phone down for her to listen but I don't think she will say anything back to you!"

in the last few years, i have gotten several magazines,  one is about horses and their care and another is about farm life.  i dont get billed for them.  i think they are advertising their wares as the books are full of ads and machinery.   i just read the good parts and skip the rest .  i didnt order them and sometimes i think when we look at something on computer, they send a related book trying to get you to order something.  i enjoy the articles before i throw away or pass them on.

Sometimes you might get a promotional issue trying to get you to subscribe.  If you get another one I'd check the mailing label to see if you're set to get a full subscription.  If so, I would call the magazine and tell them you never ordered it and that you want it cancelled.  When I was in grade school someone in my class thought it would be fun to sign his classmates up for magazines.  I started getting "Hunters Weekly", in second grade.  My Mom wrote "Cancel" across the magazine and sent it back, but it kept coming.  She ended up actually having to call them directly to get the subscription cancelled.

Thanks, everyone. I sure am not the only one.

Besides sending them back, I contacted them on the Web and told them not to send any more.

Before I subscribed to some magazines, I'd no idea of what goes on in their world out there. I am just amazed at what seem to be common practices.

Granola, you are 2 cool!  I am passing the story along...

Another warning about magazines--I tried to get onto Consumer Reports' website for a rating, and they will not provide ratings without a subscription. So--I paid the hefty fee for a subscription, after being promised some free books.

Went back to the website--and now, I have to subscribe to the website to get ratings, and pay for that.  OUCH!  If I'd'a known that, I would have paid the website price--but they probably would make me purchase the dead tree, too.

This reminds me of a now defunct magazine that gave just about anyone a year's free subscription. It was a high-quality published magazine, too.

     Thymetosave,

Did you order the subscription, or did it just come by itself?
