After I killed the poisonous snake this morning I decided to order myself a couple of bottles of sparkling pear from the local gourmet store. It's like sparkling cider only it is pears. It is really nice.

Next time I'm near the ABC Store I'll buy some vodka to make homemade Kahlua.Inflation fighter I am really too cheap to spend over $40.00 for a bottle of the stuff.

    Re: October Shopping and Cooking

Well I will be way under budget this month of $150. I have been sick the last 2 weeks-H1N1 that turned into pnuemonia. Finally picked up a few things today. Spent $12 at grocery store-tomatoes, gallon white vinegar, frozen organic enchilada meal, and frozen cheese tortellini. I also spent $13 at the meat market-1# ground beef to make meatloaf tomorrow, a lb of link sausage on sale for $1.99/lb,and a T-bone steak ($6.99/lb) to share for supper tonight for hubby and I. We grilled it with sauteed mushrooms and dug fresh potatoes, so had parslied potatoes. Total for the month so far $91. Shouldn't have to shop until Nov now.

Good thing, have spent almost $150.00 in prescription medications!!

Spent $54 at the salvage/dent store. Total for the month is $184. I do think that the dent store prices are going up too. Especially on cereal, flour. Canned veggies and fruit were the same. Rice was a bit higher. Soda was still 2  two liters for a dollar. Baby food was a good price. Picked up some for granddaughter. I have her about 4 days a week while DS and
    DIL working. Babs

Went to Sprouts again on Wed.

    Asparagus   $.77 lb

    apples  $.69 lb

red and green leaf lettuce  $.89 each

    Walnut 1/2's $ 2.99 lb

whole cut up chicken $1.39 lb

    chicken legs $ .99 lb

red and black seedless grapes $ .69 lb (very sweet, but had a tougher than usual outer skin) ( don't know whats up with that, but it was unusual.  It did not stop dgd from eating most of them.

Chocolate or yougurt covered pretzel $ 1.99 lb (may have been $2.99 lb. ) can't remember now. (Ds finished off the yougurt ones and called to tell me we were out and needed more.  When I asked if it was the choco. or the yougurt, he said I don't know, I did not see anything with yougurt on it their were just choco and vanilla. LOL

Red Potatoes and green beans $ .88 lb

Frozen pizza crust $1.79 each (very good)

Lean ground beef $ 1.89 lb

    celery $ .77 each

I got a few other things but can't remember them all.  We have cut our grocery cost down a lot since I started shopping here.  The nutritional level has gone way up also.  They don't sell all the extra junk the othe stores sell.

I went over my grocery budget this week by $35!  I did so well since the beginning of the month.  We were going to cook out and Dh wanted ribeye steaks; $15 for 2 steaks. I also bought several pkgs of boneless skinless ckn thighs that were .99 per lb, marinted in fajita sesoning, and 6 pks of regular bnlss/sknlss ckn thinghs for .75 per lb.  We use these alot for cooking out.  Also a pkg of chuck steak for stir fry.  I think thats the most meat I've bought in a while.  I hope to not go to the grocery store till at least Monday.
