    Re: october angel food

I noted that my Angel Food paper has a line about steaks being thicker but may have less steak in a package. I took steak out for dinner tonight. One pack of three steaks won't quite feed us. I will have to use one steak from another pack to cover it.

So another box with foods that need to be added to and won't quite stretch four weeks. Gr.

I think I will e-mail Angel Food with a comment on this since they do advertise that a box should feed a family of four for a week on average.

Anyone else having trouble with foods not quite feeding everyone with one package/pack?

Yes I do brandy? I notice that a lot of the frozen entree are not enough. Maybe for the exception of the salisbury steaks. As far as the steaks three is not enough for us either. Even with the two steaks in the special is not enough. The kids don't mind splitting a steak in half if it is big enough but my husband wants a full one. So I know what you are saying Brandy.

I have noticed in general most frozen "family sized" entrees don't feed a family at all.   the 2lb lasagna I got yesterday only feed 3 of us.   a larger one is only 4 servings.  if you have too add so much extra sides to feed a family, not cost effective.

Our meals typically consist of salad, a main course, a side dish and a vegetable or fruit. I am ok with adding all that in. Even with those normal sides, I can't portion out three steaks to feed two adults, one male teen and a little girl very well.

No not if they are not big enough.  The ones I have being buying on sale from IGA are huge, really thick.  They don't look that thick so the first time I had two packs and it was way too much.   so the pack with two steaks is enough for a family.

I was thinking of the frozen entrees..lasagna is more just salad and garlic bread sides.  M&M meats has lots of 2lb entrees but aren't really big enough for more then 2 or 3 people.  and that without the kids eating.  most of the stuff they wouldn't eat.

Rick had to work today, so the kids and I had the chicken tenders out of the signature package for lunch with mac and cheese and the cantaloupe.  I really like the tenders they had a lot of meat on them and they were very good.

Our cantalope was small and hard but tasted good - can't say the same of the one tangerine I've had so far, eww, pretty sour!  I had one pear and the flavor was good, but they still need a few days' ripening.

I sliced up the pineapple today, it's really sweet!   I'm going to combine some of it with some of the ham scraps from the ham slice to put on pizza tonight.  The rest of the pineapple I'll use mixed with the cantalope for dh's lunch and later in the week in sweet and sour chicken.  Liz.

The pineapple and ham pizza was a hit!  I forgot to say I used the A/F spaghetti sauce for the pizza sauce and used a quicky, packaged, dry pizza dough mix for the crust - quick and easy dinner.

I made the choc chip cookies, too - I liked the oatmeal raisin ones better, but everyone else here loved them.  I left two pieces together rather than have the mini-sized ones.  Liz.

We had used a pound of hamburger to make cheeseburgers and home grown canned green beans tonight. I have the ham steaks out for tomorrow.

Does anyone have any opinions on the shelf stable milk? I opened the box from our September box tonight after putting it in the fridge for a day to get cold, and it tastes terrible. Bitter almost. Now I have never had this type of milk before so I did not expect it to taste quite the same as our regular milk, but neither my husband nor I could stand to smallow more than a taste. The date on it is March 2010. My dogs drank some but my cat won't even drink it. There seemed to be some pieces floating in it as well.  Has anyone else had this issue before with the shelf stable milk?
