like 1 dollar and a quarter?! the cheapest here for a child is 10$ and the cheapest for a teen or adult is 17$. GREAT find!

check dollar stores, they get more and more dress up things. 

We don't do Halloween, but my girls (11 - 17) will go to the occasional costume party.   We get a kick out of using what we have creatively to come up with a costume, preferably spending little or no money for a few add-ons complete the "costume"

DD17 (ordinarily a total fashionista!)  has decided to go to an upcoming costume party as a construction worker - she'll borrow the hard hat and the tool belt from my husband or my dad.  A white T-shirt, a pair of jeans and a pair of borrowed boots and that's it! 

how about a costume 1. the lady in red. 2. the black dalah (black flower) 3. just make with the bed sheet look like the helen of troy 4. lil red riding hood .   This is a goffie contest for a holloween ideal for a party we all went nuts years ago now we are taming it down to the choices what do you all think might work it gives me a clue normally I won't ask but we are all stumped..

Last year my son was a Glow in the Dark person.  He wore black sweatpants and sweat shirt.  We then spent about $5 to $10 on glowsticks from Dollar Tree.  We taped them to his body in a skeleton like formation.  He was the hit of trick or treating and he was very safe and visible.  He won 1st prize at the rollerskating rink and got $10 and free pass to return.  The dog even got into it with glowin in the dark stars taped to a dog t-shirt and we taped glow sticks to his tail.  Every time he wagged his tail you saw the glow in the dark stick wave....we all had a ball!

I broke down and bought ds the transformer costume he wanted $20..ugh.    only because I got $50 from the kids consignment store selling their stuff.  and I am planning to go in a kids swap meet and get rid of lots more!

I bought a yard sale tambourine years ago and me and both dd's have dressed as....traveling minstrels....many times using it.  A wild-colored or patterned circular skirt, a shiny, satiny blouse, lots of colorful make-up, big jewelry and a big-hair or curly wig makes the costume.  Attach the tambourine to your waist with a scarf and you're set.

Another attention-getter, for grown-ups, especially, is to wear a tacky robe or 'duster' with a pair of mismatched scuffies.  Add a pair of falling down knee-hi hose.  Some 'Bubba' teeth and a fake cigarette, lots of cheap and badly-applied make-up plus some curlers in your hair and you're an 'old granny'.  At a grown-up party, you could carry an empty bottle of some kind of liquor...

If anyone in your family hunts, a hunter costume is super easyto do.  We wore my dads hip waders, camo vest complete with stuffed duck in the game pocket, hat with old duck license attached and, best of all, the duck call, which makes a fantastic sound(especially when you don't know how to use it right!).

If you or anyone you know shows horses, a show outfit makes a great halloween costume. 

One of the funniest costumes we ever did was the year my sister went as Peggy Bundy.  She wore skin tight black capri pants, a hideous animal print blouse, a super wide red elastic belt, high heeled, open toed and open back shoes in gold and a big bouffant(sp?)wig.  Found everything but the wig at thrift stores for less than $10 and the wig was a dollar store $5 special.  She used her best whiney/nasally voice and put "PEGGY BUNDY" on her nametag(she wore this to work and was a cashier at the time).  It was hilarious and she was ahit with co-workers and the customers!

Well I decided my costume its lizzy borden got a fake hatchet and a long dress I can ruin with fake blood cool huh??? thought the helen of troy I didn't go for that one maybe next year..
