ive read that you can only can veggies in a pressure canner but my mom told me that you can use a water bath canner if you hold the boiling temp long enough

It depends on what you want to can. Tomatoes are ok in a hot water bath, most other veges are not. If this is for next year & you watch now, places like CAL stores will be clearancing pressure canners soon. That's where I got mine.
