save a stamp, pay online -- yeah, right!

Just picked up a week's worth of mail from the post office; had 2 bills in it.  Both return envelopes said "Save a stamp, pay online" in the corner where a stamp goes.  Since I'm dealing with new companies, I thought I would check it out.  It's $3.95 to pay online for one company and $4.95 to pay online for the other company.  Save a stamp my foot.  Those stamps save me $8.02 in online fees -- and just for 2 bills!!!!

Companies are getting so underhanded.  I'm glad I checked, but I'll pay by my bill through "snail mail" thankyouverymuch!

I ask myself what I will do when writing checks is no longer allowed.

Are those charges for every time you pay?  That's outrageous!  How is that saving money?  Sound like one more greedy grab at the consumer's money.  Edey

Wow, that is surprising to me.  I pay every bill that comes into our home online for free.  Gas, electric, insurance, credit cards, etc.  I only write one check every month, that is to our landlord.  Our bank even offers free online bill pay, maybe that is something that you can check into?

me too--free bill pay is the way to go--I still have a bunch of stamps I bought last year before Christmas at Costco that I thought I would use by now, but we started bill pay and it has been great.Plus, it takes me like, 10 minutes to pay all my bills every month and they are never late!
