I am totally fine on food... not worried about spending cash. Even with this last trip. Had to buy the 12oz can of tomato paste for my spaghetti... got store brand for $1.15. And a crutch to get me drinking more, the kool-aid packets (full sugar) for water bottles normally $3.29 at this store but on sale for $2.00 (walmart is just pennies cheaper). Plus I got my 5c bag discount. Balance is now $5.06.

Dear Luvd_Lioness, THat's great to hear! Love in Him, Deb
Dear All, I realized just this AM that I can't make an every-other-week visit to Whole Foods next Sunday the 20th, as it is Rosh HaSHanah, the Jewish New Yeaer. So, I'll be shopping this Sunday (so long as my fellow congregant can make it that day), even though Chicken Soupers will be coming that day.
Meanwhile, Cala/Ralphs/Krogers has bananas @ $0.33/lb, so I bought 6. My EBT balance is now $222.86 (I spent $0.85.).
Yours in Himmmm, Deb

Re: September EBT/Food Stamps/SNAP, Etc.
I wish we had a Whole Foods here. The Co-op is not a bad sized store for a city our size so I can't complain (just on the pricier side of things though). Doesn't sound like a bad shopping trip, even with things that you are going to exchange next time. My card did get re-upped Saturday morning. I don't urgently need anything so not rushing out. (The pain pills decrease my appetite, however I then crave "bad" food). I know I will be going out on Tuesday for the job help meeting, so I might do some shopping after that.

Dear Luvd_Lioness, Is your Co-op a produce-centered market? Does it have plentiful bulllkk foods? Then it is indeed similar to Whole Foods, particulalry if its store-brand dairy products are cheap -- like the bulllk foods. Love in Him, Deb

Re: September EBT/Food Stamps/SNAP, Etc.
They have a small/medium-sized produce department. The deli and bakery actually take up about 1/2 the floor space. The bulk isn't big but does offer quite a selection! I haven't noticed any store brand there but they do a lot of organic local dairy and produce. The prices don't bother me normally because it's either organic or local or both. I just don't go down there much since it's downtown and I am not normally in that direction.

Re: September EBT/Food Stamps/SNAP, Etc.
I was re-upped also, again with the $551. That will be a budget, but we do have a stocked pantry. Already got dessert, a box of dessert mix, from the pantry, and planning dinner from the freezer. It is better as the kids are getting some free lunch at school. Is it just me, or have prices started going up this fall? I think it might be me, whenever I have less to spend, I feel like prices are higher, but the last month and a half, with less food stamps, it seems the non-sale prices have been going up. Suar, oil, cheese, bread, all seem high.
Back to the glass half full, I will have 2 boxes of produce this month, one this Thursday, and then two weeks from then. It is amazing produce.

Re: September EBT/Food Stamps/SNAP, Etc.
Whoohoo! Glad to hear you got re-upped! Too bad it wasn't higher but it is something to get you through the month.
I guess I haven't noticed prices going up... but I don't pay that much attention to those things. (what you listed) I'll look more when I shop this week. I plan on buying more produce at the wharehouse store, they have pretty good prices, especially if it's local. I had thought of going to the local farm but decided I don't have enough freezer space to stock up. (Plus with the flares lately, wouldn't have the energy). So I'll just buy what I can at the local store.
