    Taking the time to make an inventory of what is in the freezer, refrigerator and pantry is a great way to use up food before they go bad.  Then you know what food you need to use over the next week or two before buying more food of the same thing.

    If you take the time to add to the inventory each shopping trip you will always know what is on hand.   And what you need to buy to make a special recipe.

    I date the can goods with month and year of purchase and attempt to put the new in the back of the row this way we eat the older food first.
