Thyme2save: I guess I thought it was a personal decision due to people's preferences, budgets, medical issues, religious views, and commitments upon their time.  I love the idea of Friday Fun Food and everyone will have to decide what that means to them.

I'm sure that it's a personal decision. Grilled fish will be tonight's fun meal for us.

Quite a few years ago, a newspaper article about a nurse who washes her family's pillow cases daily persuaded me to be among the hot water sheet washers.

I would hate to see her bill for all that hot water! Tongue Tied I do wash in hot water... also my bath towels.

I guess where you live and cost of water and utilities affect the outcome. My utility bills aren't bad at all.

Tonight our fun meal was morningstar vegetarian burgers, speciality potato chips like "Tavern Mustard," peas, raspberry iced tea, and donuts for dessert! Topping for the burgers included lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cheese, homemade pickles, condiments, on big fluffy good bakery buns.

    Thanks for the idea.

    What to serve next Friday?

honestly since dh is out with his friend on friday and the kids most of the time eat with at grandmas, I don't cook!     or I make something I don't get to eat often because dh is allergic to eggs.  toast with cheese and a fried egg on top.  or I make something quick like kd or leftovers.

The first thing on my list of Different Things would be to cut down on the use of the dryer.   We have good sunny weather most of the time, so there really isn't any valid reason NOT to line dry most of our laundry.   It'll require better planning on my part, so that I get the laundry done early enough to take advantage of the available hours of sunlight!  Oh yeah, and I'll have to remember to take allergy meds.  I have not been able to figure out the source of the problem, but there's something in our backyard, or the neighbor's yards that makes my allergies go nuts whenever I go out to hang up laundry! (Maybe I'm just allergic to laundry!)

A new week, a new different thing to do. This week, I want to start planning meals and making grocery lists prior to shopping. It's just dh and me now, but we need some planning to help us limit our grocery shopping.

Spend more time scouting out the dollar stores. They are stocking for autumn and winter.

We stopped at one yesterday so DH could get some paper dust masks and they had some Valentine's Day stuff out.  I'm not sure if they just never got around to putting it away or if they are getting a jump start on 2010.  LOL

The whole point of turkey is to get to the pie.

Latenightleader: I'm going to come up with a list of different items that the kids would love to eat for our Friday Fun Food.  So far the winners are pizza, tacos, nachos, mini subs, french fries and hamburgers with malts.

To make it easier I'm trying to come up with some different sides, apples and caramel, dip with chips or fresh veggies, bread sticks, pretzels, cold melon, smoothies.

The very next thing that I'm going to do differently is to start my budget.

I would be happy if items for every season were available all year.
