I made my three loaves of bread but only one made it into the freezer. It turned out nicely (using a bread machine) . You have sold me on washing sheets in hot water! - oprah and Dr. Oz did a show this week about it and I was quite disturbed by it, and grateful for the information. It's is good to be forewarned and informed.

Quite a few years ago, a newspaper article about a nurse who washes her family's pillow cases daily persuaded me to be among the hot water sheet washers.

I'll be learning how to freeze the biscuits I've made when I take the class on biscuits and scones. It'll be so nice to have frozen biscuits that I can heat up again to eat with my meals.

The reason I use a dishwasher is to prevent germs from spreading. When there were 4 of us at home, we'd keep on catching each other's colds/flu when we did dishes by hand. The other choice was to use paper plates. Paper plates for 4 people on a daily basis mounts up quickly and it gets expensive. I run the dishwasher 1-2 times a week. I buy the soap for the dishwasher when it is on sale. It is something I do stock up on that does not go out of date.

I made bread from frozen dough last night, it will last a few days.  Of course, I also made those cinnamom rolls with the brown sugar and pudding mix- yum. Baking from the frozen is a litte cheaper, although it goes faster.

I'm with you on this.  I'm starting at week two.  I love the idea of Friday fun food day.  Friday nights were our Family Fun nights which included pizza.  I know make two large pizzas which is much cheaper than take out.  It's the raising of the crust that makes me a little apprehensive, time wise, but certainly better than waiting for take out.

I guess it depends on how we define fun food. Soup and cornbread is more fun food for me than pizza, for example. And I live crab cakes,

Our family doc is the one that told me sheets should always be washed in hot water, it was also on a list of ways to prevent staph that he gave me.  I don't want to have to deal with that ever again.  DS had the MRSA strain and has a quarter size indented scar in his calf as a reminder of it.  Supposedly the locker rooms in his high school are now sanitized on a weekly basis and football pants are washed in hot water on a regular basis due to DS and several other football players being sidelined with it last fall.  He now also showers with the green antibacterial soap that they use in operating rooms.   I sometimes feel like I'm going overboard however he was almost admitted to the hospital for IV antibiotic therapy because of the danger from it.  I guess I'm one of those moms.

Thyme2save: I guess I thought it was a personal decision due to people's preferences, budgets, medical issues, religious views, and commitments upon their time.  I love the idea of Friday Fun Food and everyone will have to decide what that means to them.

Striving1: I'm with you, pizza is my family's choice of fun food on Friday nights, especially when there's some leftover for breakfast on Saturday morning. We also enjoy making quesadillas on Friday nights when I have the makings for them available.

I would hate to see her bill for all that hot water! Tongue Tied I do wash in hot water... also my bath towels.

The one thing that I am trying to change is eat at least ONE day of the week without meat. I have managed 2-3 days but then the carnivoure in me takes over.
