We picked up our 2 sig. boxes.  Some of the meats were starting to thaw, but had enough ice crystals to be put in the freezer, except the turkey burgers.  Some were almost completely thawed out in both bags, so I just cooked them up in the fry pan with cooking spray.  They are so good but are more like a turkey sausage. YUM! :)

They substituted that lasagna dinner for the ground beef. :(  At least i liked the lasagna dinner better than the mac & beef dinner, but was really looking forward to the ground beef. :(

We got shorted 2 orange juices, but I'll contact them for a replacement next time.  They are gone now.

Our dessert was that lemon cake again. YUM! :)

This is the second month that we have participated in AF. I was really disappointed in the split chicken breast last month-the strangest cut chicken w/ msc necks and wings still attached or loose in the bag. I actually emailed AF off of their website, never a reply. I felt better about ordering this month's split ck br as it was supposed to be Perdue. It is actually another brand, one that I can recognise. It's thawing in the fridge for later this week. I base my decision on how much or whether or not to buy, depending upon what my local best prices are. I have a tight food budget for my family of 6, and with tweaking some of my frugal ways, I've been able to keep it down to $400/month inspite of food cost increases. September's produce box is excellent. HUGE butternut squash! I do wish that some lettuce was included, as was in Aug's box. We got 2 produce and 2 signature boxes.

The potatoes look really good, but i had to throw one of the smaller onions out and chop away bad parts on 4 other onions, but was able to save maybe at least half of each onion.  I think that can't be helped  because I've bought bags of onions in the stores that all looked good and had to end up throwing out some.

Overall, very satisfied with the food.

We got 2 sig. boxes in Aug. too and were able to use most of both lettuces with very little spoilage.  And we had just bought a lettuce about mid-week before pickup, so all that lettuce lasted past mid-month.  In fact, the AFM lettuce lasted longer than store lettuces usually last!

No subs here, either.  Oooh, I envy you guys with the lemon loaf - it's wonderful!  We got Nestle break and bake cookies, oatmeal raisin, a treat for me as I love oatmeal but never make them for just me - everyone else wants choc chip all the time.

Produce looks great except my squash is frozen on one side - have it out for tonight and hope I can salvage most of it.  Lots of apples, that's good.  Wow, between the produce box and the regular boxes, I have plenty of onions and potatoes...Liz.

I got my box and there was no sub. Brandy I got the lemon loaf last month and it was good. I manage to still have one in the freezer. Our desert this month was individual cherry pies. they came two to a box and we got two boxes. My son will enjoy those.

Have you spoken to someone at your distribution site about this?

I was expecting smaller squash, I was really surprised to find such a large one. My daughter will be pleased. She has asked for steamed squash. I need to remember how to do that.

I get two produce boxes so I am trying to figure out what to do with all these potatoes and onions.

I'd just peel the squash and microwave/bake/boil/steam it. It will come out fine!
