Brandy I notice that you are not ordering as much through AF. I figure that September you would order four signature boxes. considering that this box does not have a lot of process food. I was thinking four signature boxes for my self. I am not sure because I am not so sure that my husband is as happy with the box as he could be. So I will have to discuss it with him before I order. So I will report on what I do order when the time comes.

I like the less processed choices offered. We love the taste of the deli ham they have been having.  I am planning for at least three boxes but I am undecided about a fourth. THe turkey burgers are not appealing and I have three bags of chicken thighs in the freezer now. I may go ahead and go for the fourth though because there are several things we do like in the boxes.

I have not been ordering the additional meat boxes. I have instead been purchasing meats on sale from the grocery store as there have been better prices lately than in months past.

3 of them should equal a pound of ground meat. I frequently substitute turkey in any meal that requires ground beef. I feel like it's a steal cause turkey is either equal to or more than beef (if not on sale). I hear ya on the having too many thighs though! lol. But for me it would be a blessing, I use thighs the most. They do well in one pot meals like paella (made with onion, garlic, peppers, & saffron rice) & 1 skillet millet (garlic. onions, broth, millet or rice), etc. 1 pot meals that are homemade are my fave!!

Brandy, could you break up the turkey burgers and make something like meatballs or just cook it ground up for recipes?

    Re: September Angel Food Menu

I don't care much for turkey burgers myself either and would rather have an occasional (beef) hamburger.  But, I do like ground turkey in recipes, like sloppy joes, meatballs, sometimes chili, etc.  Years ago I used fresh ground turkey and made something like fried turkey burgers, but added a can of tomatoes and cooked it down 'til the juice was almost gone and it was surprisingly good.  I say that because while I was cooking the burgers, the turkey smelled yucky to me.  I didn't know if I could even eat them, but they came out really yummy with the tomatoes.

Ooh, that's some good ideas Gayla!  I do like turkey sausage, too.

I have tried that and threw the entire dish away. The only way we have found we will eat the ground turkey is in thin small seasoned patties which are used as breakfast sausages. I could of course put the ground turkey away for a nice stock for this.

I don't end up with as many of the thighs in the winter as I do in the summer. I took Pat's tip to stick my crockpot or roaster on the porch to cook but the family still isn't too keen on eating a lot of soups or stews in the hot weather. I don't have as many packs stacked up in there as summers past though thanks to cooking a few of these.

Brandy I know what you are talking about. There is something about ground turkey and it has some different taste. I normally don't eat ground turkey either. Some turkey items we will eat. Now if you are talking turkey ham, turkey brats, turkey smoke sausage yes we will eat that. I guess the taste is season good.

    It does to us, definitely.

We like baked turkey and turkey sanwich meat. We will eat the ground turkey as breakfast sausage but we don't really love the flavor.
