Brandy, I've never had the experience of using govt. insurance, clinics or hospitals, but I have to say it can't be any worse than the medical cartel we have in our locality. We have one doctor who accepts insurance, but you cannot, and I do mean cannot, get an appointment there for at least 3 weeks, regardless of medical problem. There is one other doctor who does not accept insurance, cash only. If you have an emergency of any kind, our only option is to go to the ER at the hospital. They do accept insurance......however, I for one will not abuse my insurance in that manner since it costs at least $1K per ER visit and more if they do any kind of tests. In other words, if you have a sudden UTI, URI (which can and will go into pneumonia if untreated) you are SOL unless you are willing to sock it to your insurance company. I shudder to think of the countless kids who go untreated in this little burg for want of medical care.
I might be wrong but I think that medical care should be a right, not an option. The health of a country's citizenry should be uppermost in the minds of those in government. Simple mathematics: a sick citizen cannot work, if he cannot work, he cannot pay taxes.
