    Health Coverage

I know this is a widely discussed topic but I am curious as to what everyone here does to cover medical expenses. Do you have insurance through your job, pay for your own, cross your fingers and drink another green tea?

I pay out-of-pocket $600/mo to my personal physician.  Beyuond that, I pay for medical equipment like the commode.  All medical services such as lab tests, hospitalization, & other doctor visits are paid 80% by Medicare & 20% by Medicaid.  My meds are paid 100% by Medicare under Section D's "extra help" plan.  I am exceedingly fortunate in all of this.

Dh and I are insured through his current employer. The boys have state health insurance until the end of this month for some reason they were denied for this next year even though the income is the same. I don't understand it. I need to figure something out for them soon.

     My sympathies, Michelle.

None of us have any coverage at this time. This is a situation that worries us so I am looking for the best solution for us.

My DH gets family coverage from work at no cost to us. He works for AT&T and has a union job.

DD's broken arm cost us $95. Co-pays were $75 for the ER and $20 for the follow-up with the surgeon. Ambulance was free (she fell off a retaining wall, so we weren't sure if anything else was wrong).

Office visits went up this year to $20 from $10. Prescription benefits changed too. We used to pay $16 for a 3-month supply of each of DH's medications (he's diabetic) and now they are $40.

I'd like to know when his wages are going to go up 100 to 250 percent to cover our expenses? I guess the alternative is having to pay for coverage.

DH,DD and myself have state insurance. It cost us $125 a month. My 19 year old  DS has nothing at present. He lost it when he turned 18. He is working but cant afford to pay the ins at his job. If he moved out, he could get the state ins. but cant afford to move out. REally dont want him to do that . Too much temptation to be 19, have a girlfriend and an apt! We pray a lot for him. There is a free clinic if he had a serious need and couldnt pay. Also his Dr. charges on a sliding scale. I watch our income closely so that we dont loose the state ins. My friend pays over $500 a month for private ins  just for her. We couldnt do that.

Dear Babs, Why not post your specific prayer request for your son on the Prayer Circle thread?
