Has anyone ever done these surveys ? They involve using a scanner on bar codes of merchandise.
Hello - I was accepted to Nielson's about two years ago, but once I finished reading all the detailed, I returned the equipment. Basically, you scan every single purchase that you make anywhere - items that have a barcode and includes all purchases for all persons in your household, too. Their process involves many steps - read all the requirements before deciding.
I haven't ever been selected for this survey. I have done the TV ones in the past and they know that I will only do it if I am paid for it. Last one was last year and I gained $30. (Unfortunately that money had to go to meds) and the year before that was $20. I figure that they should pay me for the hassle that they can put on me.
I signed up but apparently they don't have any scanners available right now. I hope it won't be too much of a hassle - because if it is, I might have to rethink it.
They also have scanners that do not hook up to a computer. It is hand held and fits into a charger.
No experience with this, but I've done the TV survey three times; don't think I'll go for it again if asked. Too much hassle; have to log down to the minute which tv's are on, what's being watched, by whom, if you have company, etc.
