That's a very nice blog...the pictures are quite professional.  They've put a lot of time into it!

I found a neat cake in a mug recipe there that I'll have to try...

     Martha,

Every since you posted the web site "Mennonite Girls Can Cook", I have wanted to say thank you, thank you a dozen times.  Many years ago, okay more years then I can count, I had an home economics teacher for three years in a row, and her mantra was "Anyone can take the top cuts of meat and the most expensive incredients and make a great meal, but a great cook can make a fabulous meal out of practically nothing"   My Mom has also always believed it too. And in this day and age it's probably more important for some familes than ever.  Gayla gives great recipes that don't cost and arm leg, and so do many of the other posters ( including those onionrolls of Edey's that you bumped up).  Making those this week.  Anyway the web site MGCC is just about my favorite.  I try about 2 new recipes per week, some out of magazines, web sites, cookbooks, etc....but even though they sound good, a lot of them are just OK, not really worth making again.  Not the MGCC ones!  I haven't made them all, but I'm trying!  I made Charlottes Maple Twists on Friday afternoon, and right after I got them iced, DH Brother and SIL stopped by for about an hour and when they left they were all gone, I didn't even get to try one!  Made them again on Saturday.......fabulous.  My maple flavoring was really dark and my dough was a little darker than their pictures, but other that it was exactly as should be......They aren't hard to make, and neither are most of their recipes and most (not all) are inexpensive.  It says that they don't mind if you duplicate their recipes as long as it's not for profit and are such a nice group.  Oh, they have a gluten free section also, and Seaturtle there are some recipes for your beans and vegetables, too.  Just wanted to say thanks Martha and urge all who haven't done so to check out the web site.

thank you phygar for the lovely comment!    I am glad you are finding the recipes great.   I have to thank you for posting because when my laptop died I lost all my links and that was one of them.  I had discovered it shortly before the laptop died so I didn't have a chance to try any of the recipes!    needlessly to say I don't remember all my links so Thank you!!Big Smile for posting the comment and reminding me about it.  I have to go check it out again!

If you like that site, you should check out thepioneerwomen.com.  She has great recipes and made a link on her site for a new forum Tasty Kitchen.  She is great and the recipes I have made have turned out great.   She has a recipe book out now that I ordered for me for xmas :)

I still want to try her blue cheese onion sauce for steaks! no one else will like it in the house but I will!
