My 2 favorite places to get ribs have gone out of business. Besides, they charged around $20.00 for a rib dinner. I do not have a grill plus I don't know how to do ribs in the oven.

This week Harris Teeter put their rack of ribs from the Deli on sale for $6.99. The normal price is $10.99. The guy in the Deli just told me that they carry ribs all the time.

This means that I'll still come out ahead if I just buy the cooked ribs once a month at $10.99 ! I have some boxes of corn muffin mix and cans of baked beans in my pantry. When you compare the prices of my buying the stuff to spending over $20.00 plus a tip plus the gas to drive to a rib place, I've come out ahead.

If I had a family, I know how much cheaper it is to cook raw ribs. There are some things I will buy for just me that I wouldn't if I had a family......especially if I had a ds or two.

But....I will look for sales on ribs just to see which I prefer the flavor of. I'll probably try doing them once. I do love a challenge.

They refrigerate and reheat fairly well. Some things don't make tasty leftovers and are not worth cooking unless one can eat them in one meal.

That sounds like a great bargain over what you were paying at the restaurant.  Krogers puts their deli rotisserie/baked chicken and other meats on special around 3 pm and 7 pm every day.  Their rotisserie chicken is now about $5.99 regular price, but on markdown clearance, it's half price.  Sometimes the chicken is $4.99 on special, then is marked down to $2.50 on clearance.  The only problem is they tend to use very small chickens.  Still, at $2.50 to $3.00 it's a bargain in my book. :)

We single gals really can buy the family pack and invite someone over to share it, especially someone who doesn't mind if the house isn't perfect. Often, that's a better deal than eating out and the companionship, I hope, is priceless. I bought ribs for $1.39/lb Friday, frozen but they thaw just fine.
