Dh and Ds#1 are going to Peru!

Just found out this week that Dh and Ds#1 will going on a 2 week mission trip to Pacullpa, Peru in October. Dh has been there 4 times before, this will be my son's first time away anywhere except camp. This is with a friend that has organized the previous trips at our old church, and his new pastor at the church he now attends.

Because it is short notice however we are suddenly in a rush for passports. Dh's expired last january, and ds needs one. The reason for the rush, as of last night, was they cannot search for plane ticket prices or reserve them without passport numbers. So now the trip is hld up because of us yikes....Dh and ds need to find a time to get to walmart for the Passport photos (ds is working all weekend), then get to the county clerk on Monday and order an expediated Passport which will be another $50 on top of the $100 regular fee, so i've heard.

Then usually plane tickets in the past have been around $1500 per person.

The pastor of our church said the church will financially support them, but I don't know yet if that means the whole amount or a portion.

Then there's the shots, which i don't think MIChild will cover for my son because when we had insurance they wouldn't cover dh's. i can't remember how much that is, I'm thinking like $100 or so.

So I'm excited and nervous at the same time and trusting God to provide the funds to make the trip possible, as i know we don't have it.

Daer MichelleCinnamon Huskies, Because this is a labor in G-d's vineyard, He will certainly provide all of the necessary funds ....  Just keep your eyes open for the opportunities He sends your way.  (Sometimes, folks wait to be hit over the head wiith the L-rd's provisions, & do not grasp what He is giving in a soft way.)

I'm excited for your dh and ds, especially ds what a great experience.  A teen at our church is in Sierra Leone (sp?) right now, one of our best fund raisers at church has always been a free will offering bake sale!  A few tables with tons of goodies, a few baskets out for money, and the person who will recieve the funds manning the tables is a effective and easy fundraiser in my experience, lots of people will give $20 and up for a plate of cookies or pie, they toss a $20 in the basket and are happy to get some goodies as a thank you.

How many shots are needed?  Ouch.
