    Pasta cooking in teh microwave?

Dear ALl, I found out that pasta cannot be cooked in a Crock-Pot.  Can it be cooked in the microwave?  How?  I know thta I read once that it can be, & that it takes the same amount of time as on the range-top, but I didn't write down the directions, having no need to.  But now I am relegated to electrical appliances, no more usign the gas stove w/o aides.

TIA for any help that you can give!  Yours in Him, Deb

Re: Pasta cooking in teh microwave?

Deborahmichelle, I found the following on cooking pasta in the microwave. I have also put my pasta in a large bowl that has a lid and poured boiling water that I boiled in the electric tea kettle over the pasta and added salt as I would if cooking on the stovetop. I stirred the pasta to separate it and covered with the lid and let sit for maybe 10 minutes then took the lid off and stirred the pasta checking to see if it was as soft as I needed. If it wasn't I recovered and leit t it sit a few more minutes, and if it was, I drained it and used as the recipe directed.

Dear Mom of 2, I reread your posgt -- which I must admit I only scanned before -- & SAW that you found a way to cook pasta in a pot without needing a heat source once the water has been boiled in an electric kettle.  Brilliant!  I copied, pasted, & printed that idea of yours out, & added it to my fridge's decorations!  THANKS!  That sounds so much more efficient than fiddling with the microwave.  Yours in HIim, Deb

Deborahmichelle, I can not take the credit for it. I saw a commercial that had a gadget for sale where you put the pasta in the container and added boiling water. I was looking for a way to not heat up the kitchen in the summer. I thought there was no need to buy the gadget, I could just use a large covered bowl instead, and it worked.

Dear Mom of 2, Identification of a solllution where almost everyone else has failed to see it IS brilliant.  My evaluation of you remains valid.
