What's this in my tuna fish?

Well, I opened a can of Bumble Bee tuna yesterday. In the tuna were two rther large pieces of either bone or shell, jagged pieces that would have been dangerous if swallowed.

I wrote the company, and I'll check food in the future before I eat it. I saved the pieces to send to them once I get an address.

I also found a piece of wood in a bag of spinach recently. And here I'd thought that it was only in Cracker Jack boxes that you got a surprise...

Ewwww, that makes my skin crawl!

It's good that you contacted Bumble Bee, because they may have had a bad batch that they'll need to recall.

(Look at the bright side, at least it wasn't a band-aid!)

     silk,

Unfortunately, I hadn't saved the can. I'd thrown it away when I put the tuna in a refrigerator container. All I can tell them is that it was 3 oz. I had to put in the code from another can when I sent the email, since a code is a require field, but I told them that in my email.

Hi ... About two months ago, I opened a Bumble Bee albacore tuna in water and it looked like catfood - no flakes, just mush. I, too, sent them an email and received a generic-letter reply. After about 10 days, an apology letter arrives with 4 free can coupons. I did use these coupons and these new cans were fine, but now I think twice before buying their brand - I now purchase Starkist or Chicken of the Sea.

Hmmmm, not very good customer relations or PR. Not to mention the product. Hearing of your experience, I wonder how many people have gotten strange cans of Bumble Bee.

Has anyone else found strange items or creatures in prepared foods?

A couple of years ago I opened a can of Bumble Bee tuna and it had a dark orange color like rust in it. I saved the can, and the lot number, e-mailed the company and they sent me coupons. Never had a problem before or since. It has taught me to inspect food before eating.

There has occasionally been a small bone in cans of Starkist too. Not often though. Have you ever seen what's in a can of salmon? I tried a couple of cans from Wal-mart and the whole center of the can was the spinal cord surrounded by meat. That was totally gross! I didn't even give it to the cat - too many bones.  Edey

Huh. Edey, were they hard bones? I've always eaten the soft bones in canned salmon - I think thery are always included and meant to be eaten.

But I can see how it grossed you out!  What brand was it?

BTW, I heard not one word from Bumble Bee. You'd think they would respond to a complaint like mine. But from what others have said in this thread, I'm not surprised.

I don't remember, it was a couple of years ago, something that Wal-mart was selling.  Edey
