They are more reasonable than buying the bottles, and even more reasonable if you use your own water instead of bottled water. Jill

Dear Brandy, I believe that teh certified letter that my aide will pick up from the Post Office this aft is from Food Stamps (due to the Governmental Zip code). I believe that it is a termination letter. We'llll see if I'm right or not! Love in Him, Deb

Deborahmichelle: I believe that it is a termination letter.
Is there any reason for termination? I may have misunderstood your post here. I was reading it as if you were expecting a cut in food stamps so you began using the JFCS instead.

Dear Jill, I need electrolyte beverage, as I mentioned. Sorry that I can't use the product that you & Tracy have been discussing, as Tracy was gracious enough to enumerate the ingredients, which do not incllude the electrolytes that I need. Love in Him, Deb

Jill was the one who listed the ingredients- thanks, Jill! Now I am thinking that there might be a powdered electrolyte drink mix for you. Does any one have a resource? I am thinking that people who, like Deb, depend on these drinks, must have some powdered beverages. It would be very expensive to always depend on the pre-made. I'm thinking athletes, people who are traveling and living in very hot regions, people who need it for medical reasons. Hmmmm....

Dear Babs, Thank you. I'll Google for teh powder when I am close to running out of my current supply of the liquid. Love in Him, Deb
Dear Brandy, I deliberately wrote to SNAP Food Stamps that I am gettign food from JFCS, knowing that they would cut my Food Stamps way down, to about $25 I estimate based on my $650/mo (approximate) medical expenses. It seemed easiest to me to just let them terminate me, & then appeal with lasat month's medical expenses, instead of mailing the medical proof in on the 15th as I generally do. Hope this makes sense -- otherewise, just ask again! Love in Him, Deb
Dear All, Caatch this:
"Dear Anne, How sweet of you to send out the cornucopia bag, the bag itself a gift as a durable shopping bag from Whole Foods. You sent me Egg Beaters, microwave steaming bags (an innovation!), veggie potato pancake mix, marble rye bread (which I couldn't resist sampling immediately -- it's simply great!), organic basil, Pad Thai sauce which I'll cook up with brown rice & the basil & the black beans (15-oz can) that you included, a Golden Delicious apple, AND a HUGE Ruby Red grapefruit! Wow! is all that I can say! Thank you very much indeed."
Aren't they simply amazign! Yours in Him, Deb

wow great food you are getting Deb!
I am still not clear on why you going with the jfcs instead of snap? was snap going to cut you off anyways? because you always have the medical expenses. also doesn't paying for an aide qualify as medical expenses?

Re: Generous food donations from Jewish Family & Children's Services, San Francisco
Dear Martha MFI, It never even dawned on me that when I start paying Josie approximately $300/mo, that will be a medical expense, to briign my total to about $950/mo. I guess at that point, I'd be entitled to more than $25 in SNAP/Food Stamps agaiiin.
Although the Crock Pot & rice cooker that Forumites so generously gave me will go a long way towards making it possible for me to cook for myself, before that happened I was very afraid of what would happen without aides as I cannot cut (due to tremor) or use my gas stove (due to possibility of being seriously burned again). I was afraid that I would not be able to cook what I bought from SNAP/Food Stamps. Because I had been on the JFCS Food Program before, I knew how generous it was. It will be fun to cook legumes in the slow cooker & graiins (& fish!) in the rice cooker for my suppers, but even now I can really use ready-prepared dinners (I eat "dinner" at lunchtime).
To clarify, there was no reason on Earth that SNAP/Food Stamps would have "cut me off anyway," the program's funding ws expanded by Congress lasat year.
At bottom, I am happier relying mostly on JFCS because I would rather have the charity of my community than charging the taxpayers.
Love in Him, Deb
