Re: Generous food donations from Jewish Family & Children's Services, San Francisco

Dear ALl, I received "tearable" produce today, not needing to be cut, which is wonderful since I have no aid at all now (I can no longer afford Josie, when I have to repay my Darling brother's loan for Heart).  I also received low-fat dairy instead of full-fat.  I'm not quoting that part of my email to Anne, teh JFCS Food DIrector, but there is that news!  I am SO happy!

Anne sent "oh-so-nutritious red chard & curly kale

"oatmeal -- I'm getting a Service Dog, Heart, & willl be cooking her dinners.  A T of oatmeal a day is one ingredient, so I'm glad to have a further supply

"peanut butter WITHOUT hydogenated oil or salt -- AND crunchy yet!

    "2 strawberry-orange drinks

    "2 Granny Smith apples

"2 tangelos (I just LOVE them, & this Autumn when they are in season.  They are always my sign of the New Year, such as this 5770.)

"You also brought me, via Project Open Hand:

    "soy entrees:
taco bowls with tempeh & cheese
tandoori tofu (if I had to pick out just 1 meal from all of POH's delicious offerings, it would be this gently-spiced dish)
        roasted tempeh with tomato-basil sauce

    "others:
       spinach tortellini with Alfredo sauce
       tomato & cheese rotini
       3-bean chili with Cheddar cheese
       roasted mushroom quiche

"Anne, thank you so much & l'shanah tovah tikvetevu, may you be written for a sweet, healthy, & prosperous New Year!  {{{Hugs}}} Deb"

Dear All, I received such wonderful groceries & entrees from JFCS today:  Yours in Him, Deb

Dear Anne, I thank you so much for the bounteous produce, dare I say it -- that I can MW & don't have to cut:  greens (mustard?), curly kale, & an artichoke, as well as bananas & BLUEBERRIES IN SEPT (18 oz yet!), & edamame, & a Granny Smith apple.   You also brought me Whole Foods organic cinnamon/raisin English muffiins (yummy!), a qt of luscious Naked pina colada protein drink, strawberry yoghurt, & canned garbanzo beans.  You are too sweet to stand in the Food Bank each week & carefully select for each household's size & important nutritional needs.  Thank you ever so much indeed!  G'mar chatimah tovah -- may you be inscribed for a sweet, healthy, & prosperous 5770!  Deb

Dear Anne, You brought me sprouted wheat cinnamon raisin bagels (what  a combo!), a huge yellow heirloom tomato, a big red tomato, green beans, organic mache (what a salad these will make together!  And I make a killer honey-mustard salad dressing.), soft tofu (for orange mocha mousse), & 2 Silk soy-milk indi servings.

You also brought, via Project Open Hand, entrees:

    soy:

Thank you so  very much, dear Seaturtle, I had quite an episode 2 weeks ago, but have been fine since.  I don't know what I'd do without the food deliveries though, as by now aides have been phased out (the last of them on 11/1) for 95% of former recipients ....  And the 5% who receive aide still will not get it for cookign & shopping, just for being turned over in bed, & other medical needs -- now iiiiimagine how they are going to eat!????????  The program is called In-Home Supportive Services.  Also, I am so grateful to have my fellow congregant who takes me grocery shopping!  Love in Him, Deb

Dear All, Today JFCS helped me out tremendously!  Yours in Him, Deb

"You gave me delicious (I've had some already) CA style complete-protein bread, a sleeve of crackers, True North almond clusters (scrumptios -- you brought me some last week), lentil soup, French-style green beans, butternut squash soup, 2 Golden Delicious apples, one of which is huge, a Gala apple, & 3 individual servings of vanlilla soy milk.

"I am relying  on your good aid more than ever these days as my Trianer & I attempt to traiin Heart, my Psychiaric Service-Dog-in-Training to be alone in the apt (in a crate).  Since we haven't yet    succeeded, I cannot go into most stores myself.  A Cong Sherith Israel congregant takes me shopping bi-weekly, but your groceries & entrees are more important than ever.  Thank you!"

Dear All, I think that the following speaks for itself:  Yours in Him, Deb

Dear Anne, You brought me a loaf of whole wheat 7-grain bread, my staff of life, 3 persimmons (the kind I like I know, but I always get mixed up on the 2 names), a prune plum, & a mango.   You also brought 2 bags of sunflower seeds.  YOU BROUGHT ME MORNINGSTAR FARMS soy sausage!  (Yummiest!!!)  You brought frozen wafffles -- apple-cinnamon flavored with flaxseed -- what a treat!  You brought a tub of Dannon vanilla yoghurt, Green Giant peas, organic lentils, AND tomato basil soup.  You also brought via Project Open Hand seven delicious entrees.  I envision you standing at the Food Bank, conjuring up immensely great deliveries for your Jewish Family & Childrens Services clients.  Certainly, I appreciate your dedication & its results!  {{{Hugs}}} Deb

Deb, I know you go to Walgreen's sometimes and after reading your post about the waffles with flaxseed was just wondering if you have ever tried the Deerfield Farms Granola bites?  They are very good and only 99 cents per bag they come in apple-cranberry, blueberry and I think oatmeal rasin all with flaxseed in them just thought it might be a snack you might like to try.
