Side dish ideas for chicken fried rice

I am making a fried rice with chicken for dinner on Tuesday. This will serve as the main course as it has so much chicken in it. I am trying to decide what side dishes to add to it. Any ideas?

And to toss a note in..I am feeding three additional men besdes my family for four so it needs to be a filling but affordable meal.

Maybe biscuits or cornbread for bread, and a green vegetable or two, or a vegetable casserole?

I was thinking tossed salad. Maybe some steamed veggies that aren't already in the fried rice. Maybe some beans for extra protein? I think if you were to have a dessert, the side dishes could be a bit lax.

How about Chinese style green beans?  They should go perfectly, and they're not hard to make.  If interested, google Cooking with Amy Chinese style green beans or else Chef.net.

Get a package of eggroll or wonton wrappers, spray them with Pam and then sprinkle salt and pepper on them.  Bake them in the oven until crisp and they can be eaten as a side or a fun "scoop" for the fried rice.  I'd also grab a bag of edamame as well, since they are soybeans they are protein rich and super easy to cook.

I'd have something like green beans and/or sliced beets. Maybe you could have something like Watergate Salad ? Maybe you could have a salad ? Or maybe you could have fried okra (popular in the South) ?

Mom always said that bread stretched meals. Why don't you do rolls, French bread, or biscuits ? Mom always said that homemade bread was a cheap way to stretch meals for growing teenage boys or grown men.

If you can swing it, I'd have a nice dessert.

Thefried rice has peas and carrots and then I am making salad. Would an additional vegetable be too much?

That's a given, we have one almost every night.

Maybe some of the sugared biscuits like the Chinese resturaunts down here serve.

Dessert sounds like a good idea too. Now I have to decide what to make.

We had a pot of fried rice last night. I am using whatever is left and making more for Tuesday. The sides last night were a variety of fruit left over from shiskabobs on Saturday and a large salad.

I am thinking fruit again maybe, the salad and sugared biscuits but I am not sure yet.
