Re: Shopping and Cooking in June

I am at 271.88 spent, that includes my May 30th grocery trip and an 88.88 Costco trip.  I started my June grocery spending budget early in May.  ;-)

I have saved 77.11 in coups and club cards.

I don't have any plans to shop this weekend.  I have everything I need.  I have all things for DDs lunches next week and mine as well.  We will make do with what we have.

I am going to try to stretch as far as I can.

I have some chicken defrosting and will do some grilling and some casserole type dishes.  We will have some pasta meals with canned veggies and I also bought a few cans of fruit, pears, peaches, etc.

We are good to go and if I can stick to this until the end of the month, I will be very pleased.

Oh.. this includes everything, personal care and paper, and cleaning goods as well.  Gotta love homemade cleaning products.

    TSS:
what is an "Angel Food order?

"Angel Food Ministries is a non-profit, non-denominational organization dedicated to providing grocery relief and financial support to communities throughout the United States."

" Angel Food is available in a quantity that can fit into a medium-sized box at $30 per unit. Each month's menu is different than the previous month and consists of both fresh and frozen items"

spent $17.98 at iga yesterday since I needed milk, bread and bananas.   they had pastarias frozen dinner 4 for $5 so I bought 8.  cheap easy lunches for work.

when i came home I found out that our student ate about 8 drumsticks so I think I will go and take advantage of the bogo sale on meat at iga today!  since he will eat them, might as well stock up on cheap chicken!

I should NEVER say I am not going to shop!  Yesteray we went to the junk stores and DD scored on Tshirts.

Today, I got up and decided to go to some garage sales.  We haven't in a long time.  We went to about six and didn't see a thing, and for the first time ever, DD came home with nothing!  Even people offered her things for free and she politely declined.

I found a few Michael Stars Tshirts for me, VERY expensive, for a buck a pop and some sleep clothes.  Also, the very last garage sale a lady was closing it up and she had a beautiful new large white crock pot.  Well, I got it for 5.00 and a very CUTE egg cooker for 2.00.  We came home at that point with our bounty.

I can't wait to wash and check out the tees for me!  Michael stars usually run anywhere from 35.00 a piece to 100.00!  So I am happy with that quality find!

    Now I am done.  HA!

I've been thinking, would it be "cheating" on my food budget, if I were to subtract the money I spent on OTC meds this past week, at Kroger? I typically don't buy them there, but I wasn't feeling good, and the thought of stopping at CVS or Walgreens didn't exactly appeal to me at all. If I were able to add that back into the food budget, it would give me an extra $25 or so to get us through June. I dunno...something for me to think about, I guess.

I don't put meds with the food budget--it goes with the household budget. Stick out tongue  So, I'd put that $25 back in your food budget.

spent another $36 and change at iga.    bogo chicken drumsticks almost$10 for the 2 packs.   lots of 50% off goodies so got cheese bread, lemon bars, cupcakes and a raspberry crostia.  put that in the freezer for later date.  also some beer sausage and a loaf of bread for sandwiches.
