Forgot to add that I'm going to hold off as long as I can on going to the grocery store next week. I am hoping that the milk & bread will hold out & not go bad before next Thursday or Friday. If I can make it til then, I think we'll be good on the budget.

Again, this weekend I am only buying the neccessities because I went last weekend.  I know that was MAY but I am consideringit part of my June budget.

I plan on using lots of chicken from my freezer this month that I bought on sale!

Re: Shopping and Cooking in June

I spent $73.50 of my $250 budget today.

$35 at the Good Earth Whole Foods/Organic for:

1 leek, 1 pkg strawberries, 2 lemons, 5# potatoes, 5 yellow onions, 1 red onion, 4 bananas, 3 heads garlic, 1 small container minced garlic, 1 bunch beets, 1/2 lb crimini mushrooms, bunch of kale, and 4 cucumbers.

I spent $38.50 at cashwise Grocery for:

1 dozen organic eggs, 2 loaves organic wheat bread, 1 loaf organic ciabatta bread, organic shredded parmesan cheese, 1 brick organic swiss cheese, gallon ziplock freezer bags, garbage bags, and organic green tea bags.

We have enough meat at this point, trying to use some of the things up from the freezer. We had country ribs with BBQ sauce in the crockpot, mashed garlic potatoes, cauliflower/tomato casserole with swiss cheese sauce, and garlic ciabatta bread. I roasted the 3 heads of garlic, so now have some garlic paste. It is cold and rainy here, supposed to be that way through Monday. We were down to 35 degrees again last night. If this keeps it up, won't be much produce from the garden.

Tomorrow I will make chicken noodle soup with homemade egg noodles and dumplings. Monday scalloped potatoes and ham. Then there will be leftovers rest of the week since I work Tues-Fri.

Don't plan on shopping untill the 20th of June except for milk.

    Julie  :)

I budgeted $375 for May and went over by 37 dollars - not too bad also considering we had company a couple times.

For June I am increasing the budget to $400 and will be ok if I go over a bit.  I need to do some re-stocking and I anticipate more company and social events that I will need to bring a dish.  Also along the lines of what Michelle Cinnamonhuskies was saying about needed to loosen up a bit - I need to do that relative to having the foods DH likes and making him feel less deprived.   I need to make him some nicer lunches and am trying to find some new recipes - tasty but still reasonably priced.

So far for June I have spent
    Shaws - $73.91
    Aldi - $66.36

    Total Spending - $140.27.

I need milk today and might make a small Aldi trip today or tomorrow for that as well as a couple other items.   I will do Shaws or Stop & Shop on Monday for sales with coupons, etc.
