I was looking at the SAS website (www.SASshoes.com) recently. They have some clogs that don't look too bad.

What are the disadvantages of wearing clogs ? What are the advantages of wearing clogs ?

I was thinking they might work in colder weather and that I could wear socks with them.

I wear clogs a lot. I have at least 4 pairs of them and I'm not even a "shoe person".

I would recommend that you not get the heavier ones as they might be harder to keep on your feet.I have some suede ones that I got from Lands End a couple of years ago,but they are a bit heavy.I wear them with socks in the winter.I have a mesh type pair I have about worn to death, but they are so comfortable!

Oh, and I am too much of a clutz to wear much of a heel on my shoes.My dh says I would go out of my way to run into something.lol!

We are talking 32 years ago, but the ones I wore then were very comfy, as I wore them all the time. After keeping them until 10 years ago, I came to the  (awoke from my delusional state) conclusion, that my size 8 1/2 feet that now hung over the heel of the clog, was never gonna shrink back into a size 7 1/2 pre-baby having,shoe size. 

They were not like the Crocs they have out now.  The bottom was wood and the top leather.

 They are easy to slip on and off.I don't wear outside shoes in the house so this makes things so much easier for me to switch shoes going in and out. 

I don't have disadvantages to wearing them personally. I do wear socks with mine in the winter.

I am a clog wearer. I agree the advantage is the ease to which you can slip them on and off. I also have a very narrow heel and this eliminates slipping in the heel which is a problem for me with many types of shoes. You do have to get used to "clogging" around. Some people just can't wear shoes that are not tied securely to the feet. I love it, though.

I wear mine in the winter with socks. My favorite brand (be aware of the sticker shock) are Dansko. But once you buy a pair, they last forever. I have one pair that is 10 years old (basic black) and I got a second pair for a Christmas gift (brown). I also have a pair of mules/clogs from Land's End (suede tan) and a pair of Born brand (black leather). Dansko clogs were recommended to me by a doctor. Many people wear them if they are on their feet all day as are made to be structually supportive for the foot.

 I was a clog wearer back in the day--I loved my clogs--mine were the "earth" shoe brand/style.  Checked their site recently and my frugal mind is still boggled!  LOL

I'd love to have an actual Earth shoe but my budget is more Walmart's Earth Spirit. I find those very comfortable and affordable. 

I can;t replace the clogs I have though, they no longer carry them.

 I haven't worn them for several years, but I lovred them when I was younger.

I don't wear them... I think you have said you had some foot and ankle and balance issues, so I'd walk around in them quite a bit before I bought them, as not all pairs of clogs are that easy to walk in if you aren't used to it.
