    June budget

Anyone want to post?  I like seeing how people are budgeting their money, it makes me look at mine again.

    Re: June budget

These are my fixed bills....not including any flexible expenses.....I try to budget for those but have a hard time keeping my other half holding up his end of the budget:

    Motorcycle 215.00
    Oil 356.00
    Electric 110.00
    Electric - Beach 35.00
    VISA - Dawn 0.00
    VISA - Todd 0.00
    Auto Insurance 179.88
    Water - Beach 75.00
    Cell Phone 67.78
    Home Phone 62.74
    Cable 108.00
    Cable - Beach 17.46
    Phone - Beach 25.92
    Mortgage 1,560.00

My oil is on a budget and I have a 1300 dollar credit that I should be getting back from the oil company.   My mortgage includes taxes and homeowners - but I need to refinance so I can get the principal payment down.  We pay too much for cable tv at home but DH isn't budging on it.  I am trying to keep my groceries under 400 - more like 300 actually.    I also don't allot myself much spending money and I include in my own spending money things I do with the kids (ie get donuts, snacks or dollar store trinkets, etc).   My own gas budget is $75 and I am usuallly under that as we don't drive too much or too far very often.

Ok this was an eye opener for me.....I need to make this more of an eye opener for DH.

    Tithes/Offerings: 650

    Mortgage: 1200

Van Payment: 2000 (min. payment is 450, but we are hunkering down to get it paid off by November.)

    Groceries/Toiletries: 400

    Car Insurance: 118

    Life Insurance: 45

    Natural Gas: 40

Electric: 100 (hoping it will be around 75)

Water: 55 (hoping it will be around 45)

    Haircuts: 60

    Landline/DSL: 70

Cell Phone: 80 (I'm still trying to figure out how to get my cell phone and landline bills reduced. Can't get rid of either one. Any ideas?)

Bug Man: 72 (he comes every other month)

Gasoline: 0 (will use my gift cards for a couple of months, woo hoo!)

I may have to pay for my daughter's soccer camp. I promised her if she could get a high "B" in her advanced math class, that I'd pay for her go to. She wants to go to a running camp, too, but at $630, it's a big fat NO WAY! I also need to find a way to pay for her youth group mission trip in July. (Golly, teenagers are expensive!! But she is a really good kid, and these are worthwhile things to spend $ on, IMHO.)

Edited to Add: I forgot to list that I'll probably need a new vacuum cleaner this month. When I used it last week, it made a terrible "clunk" sound, then stopped sucking up all together. I'm hoping that it's just a height adjustment issue that I'll be able to fix, but since the vacuum is well over 10 years old, I have a sinking feeling I'll need to buy a new one.

All our bills are the same.    need to pay for soccer for ds in the fall before the late fee kicks in.  We had promised to take him to thomas the train the next time they came to town but at 21 a ticket and a hour drive, too expensive and apparently not really worth it.    a art knapp garden centre in surrey has a thomas train so I will bring him there.  I did promise but I think that is a good situation.   soccer and a art knapp's thomas ride.

extras are paying for swimming and soccer next month.  plus my physio $45 a week.    soccer is $110 for sept to march so that is not bad.  swimming will cost almost $100 too.

    • Mortgage/taxes/insurance $1000
    • water $45
    • garbage $17
    • electric $95
    • gas $75
    • cell phones $99
    • cable/internet/landline $100
    • subscriptions $12
    • groceries $400
    • supplies $100 (we need furnace filters and dog food so may be a bit more)
    • entertainment/meals out $100 (includes $9 for zoo and museum passes)
    • swimming lessons $25
    • YMCA membership $75
    • Life insurance: $185
    • extras $100

    Total expenses: $2428

We are paying $1200 for an expensive plumbing repair (from our tax refund of $2700) and $2500 for our dog's CT scan and surgery (rest of tax refund plus cash). We put both on a credit card and will pay off when the statement comes in. We have extra cash in June as will have $1200 less in monthly expenses as the boys are done with school until August 10th. So no tuition/daycare costs! Yea!

Church, health insurance, dental, retirement and savings are all taken out of our checks so I don't list as true expenses as our checks are the net after deductions.

    Stacy-

Can you bundle your DSL, landline and cell phone bill together?  In my area (I'm in CA) there are a few different companies that offer bundled services for these at a pretty reduced rate.  We bundle our landline and DSL together for a reduced rate (like you do).

We just have Tracfones for the hubby and I.  We really don't use our cell phones very much at all, so after the initial cost of the phone (around $30-40) we only pay $25 per phone every other month.  We bought phones with a free "double minutes" card attached so whatever minutes we buy are automatically doubled for free!  $25 every three (sometimes two) months per phone normally gets us around 225 minutes or "units" and that is more than enough for us.  Whatever minutes we don't use automatically carry over to the next billing cycle too!  If you don't use your phone a ton, I definitely recommend looking into it because it'll save you a lot of money.

I forgot to add, if you do need a new vaccuum I would recommend looking into the Bissell Powerforce upright.  It's awesome!  I was given one about three years ago and really like it, amazed at how much it picks up.  We live in an older home with no air filtration and we have a lot of dust, it picks up a ton of it.  I have seen them at Wal-Mart for around $65 or so.  It's bagless, so you'll have to empty the dirt canister and it has a few filters that need regular cleaning (I just rinse mine off every other time I dump the canister).  I've bought a replacement filter one time, I want to say it was around $6-7 dollars.  I got the vaccuum used so I don't know how long it was used before, so I'm sure you won't have to replace the filters that often.  I recommend it highly, when mine dies I'll get a new one!

Thanks for thinking about me, Heather! Unfortunately, we can't bundle our landline and cell phone. Our landline and DSL are bundled through AT&T, and they are the cheapest in our area. The only other phone company in our area is absolutely awful! We had them for a while, and were so disgusted with their business practices that we reported them to the BBB and switched our service.

Our cell phone contract is with Verizon, which has the best coverage in our area. Hubbie works at a very remote part of a military base, where Verizon is the only network which reaches out there, other than a military satellite phone which is not available. Right now he is overseas, but when he returns in mid-August, he'll go back to the same work site and need Verizon service again.

I'm thinking that what I might do is call AT&T to review my landline features and see which ones I truly need. Since we have a DSL cable connection, I can't get rid of the landline altogether. I can't really do anything about lowering my cell bill--we have the cheapest plan available from Verizon. What I need to do to get the landline bill down is to only make my long-distance calls from my cell phone during the free nights and weekends. That would help a lot.

Thanks for the recommendation on the Bissell vacuum cleaner. I will check it out! Everyone in our family has dust allergies, so your recommendation is great.
