Dear Babs & Seaturtle, Your experiences with SNAP not being a dedicated EBT card just goes to prove States' rights to make their own laws within their own jurisdictions!  Love in Him, Deb

Deb that is so true. Vermonters like to make their own decisions. Another example is our WIC program for Moms and kids is delivered to their door by a milk man. No vouchers in this state. I am sure that there are other examples. Town meetings is probably one too. Babs

Dear Babs & All, We tend to think that our own way of doing things is the only way there is.  We forget that we are human beings, capable of creating innovatiiioon expressive of our uniqueness.  Vermont's ingenious ways of reducign stigma in its programs for folks hard-up ooon their llluck is just an example.

Federal programs let States pick & choose among benefits they willl give & thereby funds that they will get.

We here in CA know that well.  Our Gov (Schwarzennegger - spelllling?) is refusing somme Medicaid funds in order to more nearly reduce our incredibly huge deficit.

Deb, I am a big believer in states rights. More states should use them before they disappear.Babs

There are no vouchers in Mississippi either. There are WIC centers where the mothers who have it go to get their food.

Brandy, that is interesting. I had not heard of doing WIC that way. Here you get WIC  delivery one time a week. The dairy decides how the foods are divided for the weekly delivery. The first week in the month, you sign a reciept showing that you recieved all of the food or make a note of what you didnt get. BAbs

Babs, that sounds interesting, but then do you have to be home to meet the milkman every week?  Is it the same food?

I am happy to see some people are getting the food stamp money so they are able to use it also on nonfood items, like shampoo and toilet paper.  Those are necesssities also!

I am very grateful to be getting stamps, it is so nice not to have to worry so much about food.

That is nice about getting the food stamps in cash. You can use it for food at stores that don't take food stamps. I just wonder about those who abuse it. Take the money and buy things that they shouldn't. But I guess that is with every program.
