    Giving up the Sunday paper

I did it.  I am the only one who reads it.  The paper has less interesting articles and information than in years past.  I rarely use coupons.  It's not worth it to me.  Plus I can read it online now.  I will use the $$$ in other ways.

WOW I was thinking the same thing yesterday! I use spare change from egg sales to buy it, mainly for the classifieds and the ads.

I can go to the library on Monday and read it for free instead.

I have been buying the sunday paper sporadically for awhile now.  I can read the most important headlines online and I don't use coupons as much as I should.  After the recession hit, the size of the paper shrunk considerably!

I'm thinking of doing the same thing. I am the only one who reads it and I can get it all online too.

I didn't renew our paper to see how my shopping planning and spending would go without getting the sale papers and coupons.

I am not sure yet. It's less convenient to not have the sales papers on hand. Some papers have enough coupons to make it worth having the paper that week while others were not.

Question for all of you...how do you know what's on sale at the grocery and pharmacy stores if you shop by sales but don't get the paper?

The stores I shop in are online but I find it more convenient to get the circulars in the newspaper. This is especially true of Walgreens where I circle the items so I can do a quick reference while in the store and I have to give the cashier coupons from that circular on items purchased. I am trying to decide what this convenience is worth and wondering if any of you have a good solution.

I find it easier to spread the papers out and circle items then make my lists.Do you thinkthe paper is worth the convenience?

Re: Giving up the Sunday paper

I get the Sunday only - - then I go buy a few more.  But I am a coupon shopper and I need lots of the inserts to play all the games Wink

I seldom use the ads to plan my trips, though.  I have seen the ads before Sunday for my fav stores (CVS and WAGS) and planned my purchases.  My CVS actually turns on the sales Saturday night, so I usually go then if there are things I really want and think they will go fast.  I use slickdeals.net and couponworld.com to plan those.  Couponmom.com helps me plan my grocery attack plan.  But she never has the ads up before Sunday AM.
