    In a field I pick this red type wild grass it has a bite to it sour grass its called here .   I make a ckicken soup then throw in the sour grass and small amount of lemon grass some green onion carrots celery then lemon pepper Im trying not to use salt to much Im on to different types of blood pressure bills  then low sodium chicken whoaw thats a good sour empph german word for leman chickin soup.

     I used to pick shepherd's purse, but don't have it here. Besides that, there was the ever present dandelion (I eat them all the time, plus use the blossoms and roots), slick dock, salsify, purslane, daylily, wild mustard and cattail. I never did get to try cattail root, since it was so hard to harvest and never got around to trying the "cobs" in the spring. I probably listed the wild things where I used to live earlier in this thread, but probably missed a few, too.

    wild strawberries,sour grass,gooseberries black berrys wild parrie onion,alot of rose hips that grow in canada close to the ground then dry for along time in a dry place and wow got tea,most berries that are good we pick and the mushrooms I only know the rest no poision dandlions some nuts that grow wild you know the trees.

    pat I think I have a recipe for cat tail the top part of the grass gee now I need to look I have other type of recipes for wild berries and roots and the top of marsh grass when I lived down south my sister gave me a book on wild food I only used for the berries and the rose hip plants but cat tail wow I may have to go back in storage for this oh cool.. My book finally comes in handy pat thanks now Im inspired to go and look at this stuff again.
