Oh!  I forgot...recently they had my (kinda pricey) deodorant there.  I have to use a particular kind because it's the only one that doesn't give me horrible itchy rashes.

    I stocked up!

Tuesday night I was told that The Dollar Tree carries 1 pound jars of roasted red peppers for $1.00.

I don't like peppers (bell peppers don't agree with me), but I thought it was pretty neat that you could get a gourmet food item at The Dollar Tree in a big jar for only $1.00.

I've seen shows on the Food Network use roasted red peppers plus I've seen them used at various restaurants where I used to go out to eat in the past.

I have bought those peppers from Dollar Tree in the past and they were okay.  They didn't last long in the fridge before they molded and I'm talking days, not weeks.  I prefer the ones I roast myself either on the grill or the gas burner of the stove.  I'll buy them reduced at the store, come home, roast and steam, then freeze on a cookie sheet and bag for use later.

There is one soap that I love from Family Dollar. It's called Healing Waters Freesia body wash and comes in a 15.something oz bottle for only $1.50.  When I get to the one Family Dollar that carries it, I do pick up a bottle but that's in a town I rarely visit.  I'll pick up other items from time to time but between prices and quality, can usually do better elsewhere.

Greeting cards, gift bags, baby wipes, cleanser, wintergreen rubbing alcohol, dish liquid.  I know there is more, but nothing pops into my head at the moment.

I pick up seasonal decor items, miscellaneous household items like plastic cups/plates for the kids to use, cards, party goods, kids flashcards and that type of stuff.

I have bought wired ribbon to make bows for baskets, gift bags, cards, and seasonal items shampoo the got2b I loved it.  Sometimes I will buy those little bags of sugar-free cookies, and have also bought a tube of utter cream.  We also bought some things to use in Chinese cooking like plum sauce and different things.  I could get in real trouble because within 11 miles of me there are 4 Dollar Generals and 1 hugh Dollar Tree I also like Family Dollar but it is a little further away but I do go there on ocassion.

I also go there to fill a shoebox for Operation Christmas Child. Easy to fill a shoebox for not a lot of money.

I've bought some toys for this reason also - and for some little gifts when wrapping for the Giving Tree at Christmas.  Just recently I bought my god-child a "cell phone" (he's four) ... I wouldn't have thought of buying him a $1 phone, but his mother said he had one before and loved it until it stopped working.  Sure enough, that was a big hit!

I've also picked up gift bags - can't bring myself to pay $3-10 at Target for those.  Plastic tablecloths in various colors work nice under my lacy tablecloth - after a while if it gets too dirty or wrinkled, I start over with another one.  I've also used those for craft days - don't have to worry about getting ink or glue on the table.

I just noticed the wide variety of cleaning supplies - and those aren't little bottles either!  When I make lasagna, I usually make a double or 1.5 batch put part in a foil pan, so those are nice to pick up.

I've bought some yarn in the past - but it seems they aren't carrying it anymore Sad

You do need to be careful - even though an items is "only" $1 you can sometimes get it cheaper elsewhere.

The store that I shop at is Jack's 99 cent store in NYC and they've got everything there - they added an additional 2 floors where they sell higher priced items but still great bargains.

I buy baby wash and baby shampoo that I use for me - I love that it's unscented.

I also buy all of my baking tins and utensils - they had Ecko pans and Rubbermaid tools for 99 cents!

They get fresh food deliveries every day - people do their grocery shopping there but they did increase the price on anything in the refrigerated section to $1.29.

Plastic food bags, mustard, kitchen scrubbers, paintbruishes (for projects I don't need a durable one for). Styrofoam cups, wax paper, sometimes they have cat foor 3 cans for $1.00, some cleaning materials, cat toys, picture puzzles, a couple of mugs, plates, plastic storage containers. A a few nice baskets, wooden spoons, some utensils.

Reading glasses. I'm at the stage of life where even with a brand new contact lens prescription, my eyes don't want to focus too well on fine print. I refuse to pay $15 or $20 for a pair of 1.5 reading glasses when the Dollar Tree carries them. I can buy a pair for every room I read in, for less than half what it would cost to buy just one pair from the drugstore. And if I break a pair--which so far hasn't happened--I'm only out one dollar.
